The sun was shining brightly the next day, casting a warm glow over the school grounds. Y/N felt a mix of excitement and anxiety as she arrived at school. The events of the previous night still buzzed in her mind, but today, her focus was on the conversation she needed to have with Jimin.

She spotted Jimin sitting at their usual lunch table, his head bent over his phone, and her heart sank. Despite the bond they shared, the distance felt palpable between them. As she approached, he looked up, and their eyes met—his were filled with a cautious hope that made her stomach twist.

“Hey,” Y/N said softly, taking a seat across from him.

“Hey,” Jimin replied, his tone neutral, but she could see the tension in his posture. “Thanks for agreeing to meet.”

“Of course,” Y/N said, trying to keep her voice steady. “I know we have a lot to discuss.”

“Yeah, we do.” He ran a hand through his hair, a nervous habit that Y/N had noticed over the years. “I’ve been thinking about everything—the way things have changed between us, and with Jungkook…”

Y/N took a deep breath, preparing herself for what she knew was coming. “Jimin, I want you to know that I care about you. You’re my best friend, and I never wanted to hurt you.”

“I know,” Jimin said, his voice barely above a whisper. “But it’s hard for me to just pretend everything is okay when I have these feelings for you. I thought I could handle it, but seeing you with Jungkook… it hurts.”

Y/N felt a pang of guilt. “I didn’t mean for it to happen like this. I really didn’t. I didn’t even realize how much I liked Jungkook until we were together, and I felt a connection that I haven’t felt before. But that doesn’t mean I want to lose you.”

Jimin nodded, his eyes filled with a mixture of sadness and understanding. “I get that. I just wish things were simpler. It feels like I’m losing my best friend, and I’m not sure how to navigate this.”

“Maybe we can find a way to move forward together?” Y/N suggested, her heart racing. “I don’t want to lose you, Jimin. You mean too much to me.”

“I don’t want to lose you either,” he replied, his voice steadier now. “But I need some time to process everything. I think I need to step back a bit—to let you and Jungkook figure things out.”

Y/N’s heart sank. “Are you sure that’s what you want?”

“I think it’s best for now,” he said. “I’ll always be here for you, but I can’t pretend that I’m okay with everything right now.”

Tears pricked at Y/N’s eyes as she nodded, feeling the weight of his words. “Okay. I understand. Just know that I’ll always care about you, Jimin.”

Jimin offered a small, sad smile. “I know. And I’ll always care about you too. Maybe once things settle down, we can find a way to get back to where we were. But for now, I think some distance is needed.”

They shared a moment of silence, both of them processing the gravity of the situation. Y/N felt a deep sense of loss but also a glimmer of hope that they could rebuild their friendship in time.

As they finished their lunch, Jimin stood up and gave her a tight hug, lingering for a moment before pulling away. “Take care of yourself, Y/N,” he said quietly before walking away.

Y/N watched him go, her heart heavy with emotion. She knew this was the right decision for both of them, but it didn’t make it any easier. Taking a deep breath, she tried to shake off the sadness and focus on the next part of her day.

After school, Y/N met up with Jungkook at the park. The sunlight filtered through the leaves, creating a warm, inviting atmosphere. As she approached, Jungkook was already sitting on a bench, his gaze focused on the ground. He looked up when he saw her, and his face broke into a smile that made her heart flutter.

“Hey!” he said, standing up to greet her. “I was starting to think you weren’t coming.”

“I wouldn’t miss it,” Y/N replied, feeling a rush of excitement mixed with nervousness. “I wanted to talk to you about everything.”

Jungkook nodded, his expression turning serious. “I was hoping we could talk about us. After everything with Jimin, I want to make sure we’re on the same page.”

Y/N felt her stomach twist again, but she appreciated his directness. “I talked to Jimin today. It was hard, but we had an honest conversation.”

“How did it go?” Jungkook asked, his brow furrowing in concern.

Y/N hesitated, choosing her words carefully. “He’s going to take a step back for a while. He needs time to process his feelings. I never wanted to hurt him, but I also can’t ignore what I feel for you.”

Jungkook looked relieved but still concerned. “I’m glad he’s being honest about it. It’s not easy to have those kinds of conversations. But what about us? I don’t want to complicate things further.”

Y/N took a deep breath, gathering her thoughts. “I really like you, Jungkook. Being with you feels right, and I don’t want to lose that opportunity just because things are complicated with Jimin. But I also want to be respectful of Jimin’s feelings.”

“Y/N, I care about you,” Jungkook said, stepping closer. “I want to be with you. I just need you to know that I’m willing to take this slow if that’s what it takes.”

Y/N felt a wave of warmth spread through her. “I want that too. I don’t want to rush into anything without considering everything.”

Jungkook smiled, and the tension between them began to lift. “So, what do you want to do? How do you want to handle this?”

“Let’s take it one day at a time,” Y/N suggested. “We can hang out, get to know each other better, and see where things go. I want to enjoy being with you without the pressure of labels or expectations right now.”

“I like that,” Jungkook said, his eyes sparkling. “We can just focus on having fun together.”

They spent the rest of the afternoon talking and laughing, the earlier heaviness gradually lifting. As they walked through the park, Y/N couldn’t help but feel a sense of relief and hope. The path ahead wasn’t going to be easy, but she felt like she had the support of both Jungkook and Jimin.

That evening, as she lay in bed, Y/N reflected on the day’s events. The weight of her conversation with Jimin lingered in her heart, but she felt a sense of peace knowing that they had been honest with each other. And with Jungkook, there was a spark that made her feel alive.

As she drifted off to sleep, she realized that love—like friendship—was often complicated. But it was also beautiful and worth fighting for, no matter how rocky the journey ahead might be.
