Imane and Ellie spent their days wrapped in the warmth of love and the discipline of their training. Every morning started with a shared routine—grabbing coffee, sneaking kisses, and heading to the gym together. Ellie was improving steadily in boxing, her movements more fluid, her punches more precise, thanks to Imane's gentle guidance. Their bond deepened with every punch Ellie threw, every correction Imane offered. They were in sync, both in and out of the ring.

Ellie marveled at how safe and cherished Imane made her feel. The connection they shared was unlike anything she had ever experienced, and Ellie felt herself falling deeper in love. Sarah, Valentina, and Jessica were always nearby, their circle of friends growing closer by the day. The coaches had even started to notice the shift, offering subtle encouragement. They knew about the relationship, but they kept it quiet, understanding the precarious situation Imane could face due to her background.

Unbeknownst to them, Gianna lurked in the shadows, biding her time. She had a weapon that could shatter the peace Imane and Ellie had found—a photograph of their kiss from Ellie's birthday. Gianna could feel the power she held in her hands, but she wasn't foolish. Leaking the photo publicly would be risky. In Imane's home country, such a photo could bring serious consequences, not just for Imane but also for Gianna herself, if she gets caught. She didn't want to attract attention from her own people back home, people who might turn against her for betraying one of their own.

So instead, Gianna devised a simpler, more devastating plan.

During one of the tournaments, Gianna had met Imane's father. She still had his number saved in her phone. A wicked smile played on her lips as she crafted her message, pretending to be oblivious to the cultural and familial stakes at hand. She attached the photo of Imane and Ellie kissing, with a casual note: "I'm so happy Imane has found someone who makes her happy. Isn't it beautiful?"

She sent the message.

It didn't take long for the damage to begin.

Hours later, Imane's phone rang, her father's voice thunderous on the other end of the line. The words cut through the air like a knife—demanding, furious, disbelieving. "Come home immediately!" he shouted. Imane's heart sank as her father berated her, accusing her of dishonoring the family, of living a life that went against everything they stood for. Her mother was crying in the background, begging her to explain herself.

Ellie stood nearby, her face drained of color as she watched the argument unfold. She could only hear Imane's side of the conversation, but it was clear something terrible had happened. Tears streamed down Ellie's face, her chest tightening with fear and guilt. She knew that their relationship might face obstacles, but hearing the heated argument between Imane and her parents made the reality sink in deeper than ever before.

When Imane finally hung up, she turned to Ellie, pulling her into a tight embrace. "They want me to come home," she said quietly. Ellie sobbed into her chest, trembling. "What are we going to do?" Ellie whispered, her voice breaking with fear. She was terrified that this could be the end, that Imane would be forced to choose between her family and their love.

Imane kissed the top of Ellie's head, her own heart heavy with the weight of what lay ahead. "I'm going to explain everything to them. I'll make them understand," she reassured, though a flicker of uncertainty crossed her eyes. She wanted to believe it, needed to believe it. "I'll go to Algeria, talk to them, and come back. I promise."

Ellie clung to Imane, the fear in her heart growing as she thought about the worst-case scenarios. Imane was her world now, and the thought of losing her was unbearable. But she knew Imane needed to do this. She needed to face her family.

With a heavy heart, Imane packed her bags, kissed Ellie goodbye, and left for the airport. Ellie was left behind, pacing the apartment, feeling like the walls were closing in around her. Her friends rallied around her, trying to console her, but the fear gnawed at her.

While Imane boarded the flight to Algeria, Ellie stayed up all night, her mind racing. What if Imane's parents convinced her to stay? What if their love wasn't enough?

As the plane took off, Imane's heart was just as heavy. She knew the battle ahead was not just for her love, but for her identity, her future, and her place in both worlds—the one with Ellie and the one with her family. But no matter what, she was determined to come back to Ellie, to protect the love they had fought so hard to build.
