“Protect her, fight for her, kiss her, love her, and hold her, laugh with her. But don't make her fall, if you don't plan to catch her.”
Chapter three ♥
The bell rang at three fifteen pm for the end of school. I stood up from my desk, tucked the chair underneath the table grabbed my back from the floor, and headed towards the hall to meet my friends.
"Heather, hey" someone called to me. I turned around to face the direction the voice came from.
It was Ellis.
"Hey?" I mumbled covering my face with my coats sleeve and walking ahead.
"Mind if I walk with you? To the bus stop I mean." He asked me cutting in front of me, making me stop walking.
"Uh, sure. I'm waiting for my friends though. That okay?" I mumbled into my sleeve again looking up at him.
"Okay" He said to me. I turned away walking round him and down the hall.
"How'd you know my name?" I asked him suddenly.
"Oh. I heard your friends call you Heather so I guess that's your name."
"Yeah. It is. Heather” he stared at me “Miller" I added. His faced relaxed.
"Nice to meet you miss Heather Miller,” he said taking my hand and kissing it gently.
I rolled my eyes.
"What? You don't like it?" He asked confused.
No of course I don't. It's weird I thought to myself. "Um... Sure I do."
Why did I say that? Aghhhhh.
He smiled at me.
I laughed and let out a small snort then slapped my hand over my mouth.
"What's so funny?" he asked me.
"Dunno” I mumbled walking off. "Come on... I need to meet my friends in the hall."
I didn't speak to him while we were walking I was thinking about why I was saying things I didn't mean. I didn't really like it when he kissed my hand. Well not much, he didn't need to know that I did if I did... Which I did... Maybe. I sounded like such an idiot.
I met Elle, Raine, Lois, Alice, Maya and Maddie in the hall 2 minutes later. Alice was all giggly probably because Ellis was there. I smiled at her and mouthed "for you" to her.
She let out a high-pitched squeal then Elle covered her mouth with her hand.
We walked to the bus stop, the girls in front and I hung back a bit with Ellis. He didn't say anything, but I caught him staring at me with an expression that made me think he was concentrating then he smiled.
"So, where abouts do you live?" Ellis asked me.
"Um on a farm like a 10 minute walk away from the village. You?"
"Like 2 minutes away from the bus stop in Newton." He smiled at me again then touched my fingers with his giving my body a shock. I stopped walking with a shocked expression on my face. "What's up?" Ellis asked me.
"Um nothing. Just thought I forgot something back at school, but no. Its okay" I lied.
"Oh alright then. Just a shock?"
I nodded gently.
He touched my fingers again giving me another shock through my veins. "Ow" I gasped trying to breathe.
"It's okay. Heather. Trust me."
"Why is that happening?" I asked him confused. I knew the answer somewhere in my head, from a story about vampires that my dad used to tell me. Something about mates. This scared me a bit since I believe in the stories that were told. Like my dad did. And he was killed because of it.
"You won't understand. It's hard to." Ellis whispered into my ears. He stopped walking and pulled me back sending sparks through my body again. He held my hand and pushing his head against mine making me feel dizzy. "Your life is never going to be the same..." He whispered to me playing with my dark long hair.
"Ellis, stop." I stuttered trying to break free.
"Heather... Don't. I don't want this to happen but you had a choice. Like everyone did."
"What?" I asked confused. I know something is off with him but he can't be a vampire. I mean he is nothing like they are in the stories, with the pale skin, blood red eyes, huge teeth. He looks just like a normal teenage boy with his amazing tanned skin, brown eyes and normal teeth.
"Don't worry. You need to figure this out on your own. Bye." Ellis said releasing me then running off down the road at a normal pace. Too slow to be a vampire.
"Bye..." I murmured waving pathetically.
I ran ahead to catch up with my friends who greeted me with a wave. "So?" Alice asked me as we got to the bus stop.
"Um nothing. Just wanted to walk with me. Had to get some help with the math homework" I lied. Lying has is coming a habit, a habit that I was getting good at. Alice had no idea.
"Oh, okay" Alice said disappointed. I smiled at her and stepped onto the bus taking a seat next to Elle again.
Elle smiled at me "so, what are we doing this weekend?"
"Movie, then sleeping over at Maddie's? Tomorrow yeah?" Alice reminded us.
"Yeah, I'll text you guys with the film and time details, okay?" Maddie said.
"Yeah, sure" I agreed.
