Chapter four ♥
I got home and it was snowing hard and I had to do things in the fields before it got dark.
I really couldn't be bothered with it.
"Heather, is that you?" Mum called.
"Yeah, it's me mum" I called back.
"Good, you need to go into the sheep shed and clean pen 2 and 3 out for me please."
"Yeah, I know mum. What happened to Taylor?" I called back to her grabbing some crisps and stuffing them into my mouth.
Taylor is 19. He’s working for us on the farm to get some cash, and for his veterinary training. He's leaving in a couple of months, after lambing season. I'll probably miss his company in the sheep sheds, but mum said she'll hire someone else, or we'll have to sell the farm.
"Oh, he's in the shed as well. He was late to work because his mum had a baby and he had to be there."
"Aw, cute. Okay. I'll do it in a minute. Just going to get changed." I ran up the stairs pulled off my jeans and slipped on a pair of old jogging bottoms then yanked off my floral short sleeved top throwing it across the room, making it hit into my dark wood wardrobe; instead of flopping into the basket.
I slung my hair into a messy bun and shoved a few pins down the side to keep my fringe from falling in my face.
"Hey, Heather." Taylor called from downstairs.
"Hey" I called back going down the stairs.
He smiled greeting me with a hug. When he pulled away, he pulled an awkward face as if I smelt bad.
I smelt my shirt''s sleeve. "I don't smell bad do I?" I asked worried.
"No, you smell fine. I just... Had something in my nose." He said. I wasn't convinced. Something was off. "You okay?"
I smiled "yeah, I'm okay. You? How's the baby?"
"Yeah, I'm good. And he's alright just a bit small."
"That's good then,” I said pulling on my boots and grabbing my coat from the hallway. "Come on, let's go."
We walked out of the back door, being in the kitchen and across the fields to the sheep shed.
Taylor was talking about his baby brother. From the conversation I learnt that his name was Lee, he is 6lb something, he is bald, he was born at 8:21 am today and some other things which I've forgotten already.
I started by moving the sheep in pen 2 into pen 3, and then mucked out pen 2 and put fresh straw down. Then put all the sheep in pen 2 and 3 into pen 2. Taylor mucked out pen 3 with me as we sung to Rhianna on the radio.
"Hey, do you want to meet Lee after work?" Taylor asked me. "The rest of the family will be there as well."
"Sure" I smiled "I'll have to ask my mum first."

On the way to Taylor's house, I was telling him about Ellis and what he said hoping maybe he could help me make some sense of it.
"Well, from what you've told me I'm guessing you believe all the stories." He said tapping his fingers on the steering wheel.
I nodded gently.
"Wow. Really?"
"Yeah. Is that bad or something?"
