My powers flickering in and out of control, I take a deep breath, trying to focus on the steady rhythmic beating of my heart. For many years, I've been learning to control my earth elemental powers to help protect my people, but everyone struggles with control sometimes.
Ruling my kingdom from the age of 8 has been a challenge; the number of decisions that need to be made, bloodshed that never stops, non-stop scrolls to fill in the gaps. Now that I am 16 years old, many princes have been trying to take my hand in marriage, and they have all failed. The only person I want is my soulmate. Yes, I'm stuck with my brown eyes until I meet them, but that is the risk I'm willing to take.
My thoughts were interrupted when the castle door flew open. Panting out of breath, leaning against the door was King Lewis of the shadow world. Prince Ollie of Tumberland rushed up beside me. "What on earth is going on?!" I sought for an answer, searching their faces for a tell of what was going on.
"We were attacked, only us two made it back alive. I don't normally say this, but we need the ninjas help. We can't keep going like this, Skye." Ollie was wobbling on the spot as if he wasn't seeing straight. All I could do was sigh, he was right. We did need the help, but this made me feel like I had failed as a queen to protect her own people.
I sent Ollie and Lewis away to tend to any injuries they may had attained during the battle. I sit on my throne, my head resting on the table pondering what to write. I need to send for the ninjas help as soon as I can, this is urgent.
"Dear Ninjas,
This weekend we have a meal and party in which I would love for you to attend. there are matters most important that i would like to discuss.
I can not disclose all due to being unaware of who else may come across this letter, but trust that I would not deceive you in any way.
Yours Sincerely,
Queen Skye of Clarriness"Sealing the scroll, I immediately sent it off to be delivered. Now, I await the news to see if they are willing to help.
A few days have passed, and all I've been able to do is pace around my castle, worrying about the answer I await. It was now the day of the meal and party. I couldn't catch my breath, it was as if the worry and panic were taking over and about to engulf me. My best friend Benjamin had arrived a couple of days ago, and Tyler and Jenny arrived shortly after him to help with preparations for the event. I couldn't do much without these guys by my side.
As I lay out the table cloth, I secure the edges, making sure it lays flat. Princess Jenny places all the chairs while Princess Tyler set out the plates, but a crash from behind stopped us all in our tracks. There on the floor were two boys who looked around the same age as us, both staring, faces turning red from embarrassment.
"We are so sorry that was not meant to happen." The boy with ginger hair panickily explains. The other boy who has black hair and blue eyes, just stood there without saying a word.
"Who are you?" I try saying calmly, but you could tell the shakiness in my voice was present.
"I'm Noah. Noah Brookstone. This here is Jack Walker. We were the first two to arrive here from a letter sent out." So these two are part of the ninjas, aren't they meant to be quiet and not noisy?
"I'm Princess Tyler of Suverland." Tyler introduced herself, and continued "This is Queen Skye of Clarriness. The one who sent the letter out." Both of their eyes widen and stare at me. They both ended up being slapped around the back of their heads as more of them came flooding in, parents included.
As I explained who I was, none of them believed that I was the one who sent out the letter. The whisper's of "she's so young to be queen" circulated the room. When I told them what happened in my early life, they all calmed down, understanding the circumstances. After the slight commotion, we settled into our meal and began discussions.
Though out the whole meal, most of them stared at me, still not believing what they had heard. Pushing it aside, I focused on explaining the situation at hand and formally asking for assistance with the attacks.
The party turned up quicker than anticipated, cutting our conversation short. Everyone was laughing and giggling, we were all having a good time. Everything was perfect, or so it seemed.
Without warning, someone screamed about a portal opening up. I didn't see who got sucked in, but when I was grabbed, I knew this had to be a trap. I don't know who did it or why, but I will find out for the sake of my people.
