Chapter 1-The rainy night

Today was Bondita's 15th birthday.
The whole mansion was busy preparing for her birthday.They say a girl always becomes mature sooner before their age,and it is actually a proven thing in roy choudhury house.Both batuk and bondita is of same age,but no one will agree that they are at same level of maturity,bondita is really mature.The reason is her marriage,she was married off in a young age,her patibabu tried to protect her from everything,every bad effect of child marriage,he was successful in majority of those but he couldn't protect her from everything unfortunately,but he made her strong enough to protect herself.bondita knows her patibabu is short tempered,so she hides few stuffs from him.She has learned her lessons in a hard way,no not because she is afraid of her patibabu's anger,his anger used to scare her,but nowadays she knows how to handle him,and she does it perfectly.Her capability to handle her patibabu actually impressed her sasuji who was always against her from the start, nowadays he warmed up a bit towards bondita,why wouldn't he, bondita was such a sweet girl,she made this house of bricks appear like a home,and gave peace to his son who was always restless and short tempered.And her kaka sasurji is always impressed by his beloved bari bahu.

Anirudh's anger doesn't really scare Bondita that much as she knows she will be able to calm him down.She never hides anything from her patibabu but for his sanity she has learned to hide somethings,like the moment she is facing right now.Few Ladies from the village came to meet her, after all she is a "zamindarni",and it's her birthday today.All of them came to wish her,she is always very lenient towards these women as she knows most of them probably aren't even treated like a human in their home,and here they see her getting cherished like a daughter,see her getting pampered like a goddess by her patibabu whereas their husbands treat them like servants,it was Bondita's kindness that made her stay quiet in these moments,she tried to change their view before but they are so miserable in their own life that they don't want to break that bubble they are in.They convinced themselves in midst of their sorrows to protect themselves.BONDITA understood that.But they mistook her kindness as inability to act like a proper zamindarni,they taunt her for this behind her back just doesn't have the courage to do this in front of her,but what they can do in front of her is disguise their taunts as concerns like what they are doing right now.

Woman 1: it's been more than 6/7 years Malkin.No matter how good a man is,they will still want to see their own blood playing in their home.

Woman 2:Ha Malkin,our chote Malik is a diamond,not only he is the eldest son of a zamindar,he is also a billaiti bar..ba.. whatever those English name is.
Bondita: barrister.
Woman 2:yes, that's what I said.Women will eat him alive if you still don't tie him up.
Bondita:kaki,he is not some kind of animal for me to tie him up,he is a human, quite mature one,he knows his limits well,and loves his boundaries,he doesn't like anyone except me or him to touch his stuff how will he ever tolerate some other women.And I trust him,he is not like that.

Woman 3: Malkin,we are saying this for your own good,we are older than you,we have seen a lot in our humble life,man only talk in front of us like a pious man but behind our backs all man needs strong hold, otherwise....

Bondita was feeling annoyed now,but her manners didn't let her misbehave with these older women but being taught by her kaka sasurji,bondita too was becoming a strong zamindarni.

Bondita:what are trying to say kaki?are you saying that my patibabu has lose character?

Those 3 women got scared.
Women 1:no no Malkin,how can we dare to say such heinous thing about our chote Malik?we wouldn't dare.
Women 2:yes, Malkin.We wouldn't.We are just worried about you, that's all.
Bondita: There's no need for that,just show this bit of concern towards your own daughter in law's in front of your son's.Atleast they will live like a human then.
