Chapter 2-A burning sensation

Bondita moved through the dining room, serving breakfast with the help of Bhari Babu.She had become quite adept at navigating the tight spaces between the ornate chairs and the heavy mahogany table.Today everyone was present at the dinning table.

"Please, just let it be peaceful,"she whispered to herself, placing a steaming bowl of aloo r dom in front of Anirudh. He looked up, his eyes crinkling as he tugged the edge of her saree.Bondita's heart raced as her patibabu's fingers brushed against her saree. She paused, caught off guard by her patibabu.

"Patibabu?" her eyes darting around to ensure no one had noticed the small interaction between them for some reason.
Anirudh's grip on her saree loosened slightly as he leaned in"bondita you sit t...."

Before Anirudh could complete his sentence he was interrupted,"Dada".

Bondita flinched and moved back,she felt the grip on her saree loosen as her patibabu's attention was drawn away.

Som cleared his throat,"Dada,did you put some kind of petition in court again to change the society?"

'And there goes the morning peace.'Bondita sighed, annoyance in her som Dada's voice was quite visible.Roy Choudhurys having peaceful environment at the dinning table was no less than a miracle.But miracle is called miracle as this happens very rarely but bondita had no good luck today.Her ever so quiet som dada started the morning session today.

Anirudh looked towards his usually reserved brother,"I put lot of petition in court som,which one are you talking about?"
Binoy:what did you do again? can't you pass a single day without your fitoor?

Anirudh clenched his jaw, bondita started calling her goddess and went towards her patibabu with another boiling hot Curry bowl in her hands.
Kaka:will there ever be a day when we eat together in peace?

Bondita thought,'Ah yes, the ever-so-noble task of turning breakfast into a courtroom drama. goddess please calm their mind a bit.'

Anirudh:SOM,I asked you a question.
Som knew he shouldn't have brought this topic in breakfast,and he was scared of his brother's reaction,but if he brought it with him alone then no one would have been there to save him,now atleast he has his kaka and boudi to save him from his brother's anger.

Som:That...I....I don't know,but my head declined my report yesterday and when I asked him about it and had a bit fight with him,in anger he said to ask you about that.
Kaka:What?How dare he? doesn't he know who you are?
Binoy:da,even if everyone knows who we are, sometimes your older son's behavior make people lose their mind.
Looking towards som,"I will take care of him, don't worry"
Anirudh:woah baba,so what are you going to do? unjustly remove that teacher from his post?
Binoy:No one gets to disrespect roy choudhurys.We already became a joke for you many times,we somehow managed to digest and avoid those.
Anirudh:we are not gods baba,you don't even know what som did and what that teacher said properly,you can't take action just from listening whatever your son says.
Som:What are you trying to say dada,that I am lying?
Anirudh:when did I say that som?And about which petition,what happened?no one can take advantage of their position to take away the opportunity that's rightfully yours,but we need to know the whole matter to reach the solution.
Kaka: There's no need for that,no one should have the courage to lash out on a roy choudhury,if we give leniency to one person then everyone will start acting like our equal.Binoy,you do what you need to do.

Suddenly, Anirudh rises from the table in anger, slamming his hands down, sending his plate's contents scattered around the table.Batuk who was quitely sitting beside Anirudh,his foods also got spoiled.
Anirudh:You guys are impossible,what the hell do you guys think we are?we are zamindars,we should look after our people not take away their earning options for every silly mistake.
