COLETTE COOPER WAS NOTHING — AND I MEAN NOTHING — like her mother. She was a kid who didn't do as her parents say unless her dad started to get angry while she was sat there, then she might do whatever she's been told to do.Coco was sat at the dinner table, opposite her father and between her little sister — Missy — and her twin brother — Georgie — who were both sat waiting for Sheldon — their younger brother.
"Shelly, dinners ready!" Mary shouted as she set the food on the table and sat down.
There was a few seconds of silence before Missy shouted, "Sheldon, if you don't get in here, I'm gonna lick your toothbrush!"
"Coming!" A scared shout came from the garage before Sheldon's feet were heard running in.
"Nice one." Coco smiled, high fiving her little sister and getting a look from Mary in the process.
Mary fished out the food as Sheldon ran in and sat down between Georgie and George — their dad — who stared at Sheldon, "The hell were you doing out there?"
"George, language." Mary scolded her husband as she sat back in her seat.
"What language?" George asked his wife before looking at Sheldon again, "So?"
"I was exploring dimensional kinematics." Sheldon explained and Coco rolled her eyes, running her hands down her face. She loved Sheldon, she just hated how smart he was.
"Admit it — he's adopted." Georgie said, looking between his parents.
"How can I be adopted if I have a twin sister?" Sheldon asked, looking at his older brother, "Think, monkey, think."
"That's enough. No one's adopted." Mary said, quieting her two sons.
"I wish I was." Coco mumbled.
"Me too." Missy nodded.
Mary looked at her eldest daughter in annoyance, "That can still be arranged. Now, let's pray."
"A moment, please." Sheldon said politely as everyone else grabbed the hands on the people next to them. Sheldon had mittens for praying at the table which made everyone annoyed.
George sighed deeply and Mary shot him a look, "Leave him be."
"He can hold hands with his family. It won't kill him." George said, looking at Mary before looking at Sheldon sternly.
"We don't know that." Sheldon shook his head as he pulled his mittens on, "Georgie, did you wash your hands before dinner? Or even this week?"
"None of your business." Georgie bit back which made Coco's face scrunch in disgust.
"Hence the mittens." Sheldon looked back at his dad.
Once his mittens were both on, he grabbed Georgie and George's hands and everyone closed their eyes as Mary began praying, "Thank you, God, for this food we're about to receive and for the nourishment of our bodies, and bless the hands that prepared it."
"Amen." Everyone said at once before beginning to eat.
"How come we ain't got no tater tots?" Georgie asked, looking around the table.
"I made tater tots last night." Mary responded plainly.
"I'd take tater tots over mashed potatoes any day." Georgie said before taking a bite of his mash potatoes.
"Just eat what I made you." Mary looked over at her eldest son.
"Can we at least have tater tots tomorrow?" Coco chimed in, she agreed that tater tots were way better.
"Yeah, can we?" Georgie asked, nodding his head at his twins statement.
"Maybe." Mary answered before changing the subject, "Everybody excited to start school Monday?"
"I am." Sheldon raised his hand slightly.
"I guess so." Missy shrugged her shoulder.
Mary looked over at her eldest twins, "Georgie? Coco? Freshman year, that's a big deal."
"How in the hell can we be excited when he's gonna be in the same grade as us?" Coco groaned slightly while gesturing to her younger brother.
"Language." Mary scolded her eldest daughter, earning an eye roll from her.
"Don't worry, Coco, I'm not planing on being in the ninth grade for very long." Sheldon said softly.
"All I know is that he's not in the same grade as me anymore, and I'm thrilled." Missy smiled, rolling her eyes.
"Good luck with your finger painting." Sheldon said to his twin sister.
"You're gonna get your ass kicked in high school." Missy said, nodding slightly.
"Hey, language." Mary raised her voice as Coco snickered at Missy swearing.
"I'm not going to be assaulted." Sheldon paused, looking at his twin, "High school is a haven for higher learning."
"Oh, dear God." George said, sighing slightly.
"Speaking of God, who's going to church with me tomorrow." Mary asked, looking around the table at her husband and kids.
"I can't." George said, "I'm meeting with the other coaches."
"You can't meet after church?" Mary asked.
"No, Mary, I can't meet after church." George said in an annoyed tone.
Mary nodded slightly before looking at her eldest child, "Georgie? Coco?"
"I got to study my playbook." Georgie spoke before looking at George who nodded in approval.
"Can't." Coco answered plainly.
"Why?" Mary asked.
"Cause anything else is better than church." Coco snapped and Mary nodded angrily.
There was a moment of silence before Sheldon spoke, "I'll go with you, mom."
"Why are you going? You don't believe in God." Missy asked the smart child.
"No, but I believe in Mom." Sheldon said, getting a smile from Mary. Suck up Coco thought.
"I'll take it." Mary smiled before looking at her youngest, "Missy?"
"Can't. Heather asked me to—"
"You're goin'." Mary interrupted before taking a sip of her drink.
"Son of a bitch." Missy mumbled, making Coco laugh.
"Hey!" Mary raised her voice, flicking Missy in the head.
"Ow!" Missy exclaimed and Georgie started laughing. Missy picked up a pea and threw it at her brother, and that started the pea throwing war that not even Mary could stop.
