Sitting in the vibrant studio of EXPRESS, I felt that familiar flutter of excitement mixed with a dash of nerves. Today was my chance to share my world, and I was ready for it! Seyi, the host, was known for her fun and easygoing style, so I knew this would be a good time. "Welcome back to EXPRESS, everyone! Today, we have the fabulous Tolani Adetoye in the house!" Seyi announced, flashing her signature grin. "How are you today, Tolani?" "I'm great, Seyi! Just living the dream, you know?" I replied, trying to match her energy.
"Love the vibe! Let's kick things off with a prank call. Who should we call?" Seyi leaned forward, clearly excited. "Let's call Ayra! She's always good for a laugh," I suggested, a mischievous grin spreading across my face. "Perfect choice! Let's see what she's up to." Seyi dialed Ayra's number, and it rang a few times before she picked up.
"Hello?" Ayra's voice came through, laced with curiosity. "Ayra! It's Tolani! I just got a brand new car, and I need you to help me pick the color!" I said dramatically, trying to keep a straight face. "Wait, what?! A new car?!" she exclaimed, her excitement palpable. "Girl, you better choose something fabulous! We need to go test drive it right now!" "Actually, it's a pink minivan with flower decals," I added, bursting into laughter. "What?! No way!" Ayra gasped. "You are so lying right now!" Seyi joined in the laughter, unable to contain himself. "Ayra, it's a prank! We're live on EXPRESS!" "Oh my God! You guys are the worst!" Ayra laughed, and I could hear her shaking her head. "But seriously, I want a ride in that minivan!"
After the call, Seyi wiped a tear from her eye. "That was gold! Ayra is a treasure. Now, let's switch gears. What's one thing you splurge on and one thing you think is overrated?" I thought for a moment before answering, "I definitely splurge on skincare. I believe in taking care of my skin; it's my canvas! But honestly? I think some high-end fashion shows are overrated. Like, I love fashion, but not every designer collection needs a million-dollar budget."
"Great perspective! Now, I have to ask—are you and Rema just besties, or is there something more?" Seyi's playful tone made me giggle. "That my bestie!! He a real bad bitch!!!! Well, Rema and I have a special bond, for sure." I explained, feeling a warm blush creep up my cheeks. Seyi leaned back, an amused smile on his face. "Intriguing! Now, let's make it fun again. Can you sing a part of one of Rema's songs? I think 'Charm' would be a perfect choice!"
I nodded, grinning at the thought. "Absolutely! Here goes!" With a slight laugh, I started singing:
"Come here, wetin dey worry you?
Bring body make I rock am, yeah, yeah..."
As I sang, the studio filled with laughter and good vibes. Seyi even tried to sing along, jokingly failing to hit the notes. "Okay, Tolani! You've got some serious skills! "Thanks! Just trying to keep up with Rema's talent!" I giggled.
"Now, let's talk about your influencing career. What's been the highlight so far?" Seyi asked, shifting back to a more serious tone. "I'd say connecting with my fans has been the best part. Their support means everything to me! It's so rewarding to see how my content resonates with them," I replied, my heart swelling with gratitude. "Are you thinking about diving into music yourself?" she inquired, raising an eyebrow. "I'm definitely considering it, so who knows what the future holds!" I said, my excitement bubbling over.
"Awesome! Now, how do you maintain your relationship with God in such a busy lifestyle?" Seyi asked, genuinely curious. "Faith is a big part of my life. I start each day with prayers and gratitude, and that keeps me grounded. No matter how hectic things get, I always make time for that connection," I explained, feeling a sense of peace. "Beautifully said! Let's lighten the mood again. Share a fun childhood memory with us!" Seyi encouraged. "Oh, I have a good one! When I was a kid, my cousins and I used to have epic dance-offs in the living room. We'd blast music and just go wild! My aunt would film us, and we thought we were the stars of our own show!" I laughed, picturing the chaos.
"Sounds like a blast! You definitely have the moves now!" Seyi joked. "So, what's next for Tolani? Any exciting projects on the horizon?" "I'm working on some new projects, and I'm really excited about it! Plus, I have a few fun collaborations lined up, so stay tuned!" I replied, beaming with enthusiasm. "Can't wait! Thank you so much for joining us today, Tolani. It's been an absolute pleasure!" Seyi said, giving me a warm smile. "Thank you for having me! I had such a great time!" I responded, feeling grateful for the chance to connect with my fans and share my journey. As the interview wrapped up, I felt energized and excited for what's to come.
