CHAPTER: 1 ACORN HILL

Green lush trees go by fast, lookin' out the window of the car, seein' out into the distance, a pretty sunset soon to arrive. I look down to my iPod to change the song, to feel the sudden rush of homesickness, you see my mama wanted to move to a different town, a different state to start a new life, but I liked my home, my town and I am not happy with the decision she made, but Ima support her decision anyway, it's not like I have a choice, after all I'm still a kid.

I wish my dada could a come, you see my dada is the reason we are moving to a new state and town, my mama caught him cheatin' in our home, don't get me wrong cheatin' is a terrible thin', but he is still my father and I still love him, I'm gonna miss him. I won't get to see him often as I'd like, I've tried reasoning with my mama, but she won't budge, so I'll guess I'll have to make do.

At last, we arrive at our destination, takin' in my surroundin's, I see a small o'l rundown two-story house with a big o'l barn to the side, I don't really know how to take in this information, and so I just sit there and take in details of the view. Five minutes later we are settled in the rundown house, I got the bedroom upstairs to the right of the bathroom and my mama got the bedroom to the left of mine. The first night we had take out because we had exhausted ourselves by unpackin', after dinner we washed up because there was no dishwasher and then went to bed.

Moring comes around and we get ready for the day ahead, explorin' the old town, going pass food shops, clothes shops, an old library and antique shop. My mama goes to the clothes and food shop while I'll go to the library and antique shop. The library seems to have a sense of mystery to it, like there has been many histories and stories about this place to tell, and I am more than happy to discover them.

I walk down the isle to my left in the fictional section, hoping to come across one of the books I have been meaning to read, I've heard good reviews about it, so it must be good! Five minutes pass and I still haven't found it, I start to get a little annoyed but keep goin' through, another 5 minutes pass and I still haven't found it, and so I sit down and take a break to calm myself, in doin' this, a male about my age asked me if I need any help with anything, I said yes, I need help finding this book and showed him the name of the book on my phone.

Ah yes, good choice, it's one of my favourites, I highly recommend it. Let me see what I can do for you, got it, here it is, I hope you enjoy, let me know what you think when you finish it! Says the boy, ah thanks.........I reply, lol I'm Nick, Nick Collins, nice to meet you, nice to meet you Nick Collins, I'm Abby Bloom, I will try my best to remember to tell you what I think, thanks again, anytime replied Nick.

I wait outside the food shop, my mama comes out with warm hot croissants and a warm cup of tea, I gladly take a croissant and a cup of tea, because my tummy wouldn't stop rumbling, plus my hands were freezing, so a nice drink/hand warmer, a perfect combination. After we finish our food and drink, we drive back home, when we arrive home, I flop on my bed and grab out the book from my bag to look at the cover, there is a girl on the front cover laying on the grass, her eyes looking distant yet kind, interesting I...... think, let's find out what the hype is all about.

I start readin' the book, I'm five minutes in, seems alright, but not much to go on just yet to form a full opinion. 20 minutes in, and I'm starting to get an idea of the book, 50 minutes in and I'm ballin' my eyes out, wonderin' why it had to be the way it was, but all the same its still a damn good book.

After finishin' my book, I go downstairs and see what my mama is doin', she's cookin' dinner, I ask her what's dinner, she says steak n veg, delicious I say, haven't had a good steak in a while. We sit down and have a casual chat while eating dinner, and then wash up and get ready for bed.

Morning comes around, I get ready for my first day of school, I mean I don't really wanna go to school due to bein' the new kid n all, but nevertheless I still go. I walk to the office doors and swin' em open, as soon as I walk in, I am surround by glances from all different areas in the office, I look down not wantin' to draw attention to myself and walk to the front desk, when I got there, they asked me for my name, etc so I could get my timetable.

My first class is geology, don't get me wrong geology is ok, that is if you like rocks n all, but geology is not for me. I sit down in my seat, to suddenly hear the chair move next to me, I look over and see a tall blonde girl with bright green eyes, she brings out her hand for me to shake and introduces herself, "Hi I'm Bailey Clover, nice to meet you" I reply by saying "Hi I'm Abby Bloom, nice to meet y...you too I chuckle a nervous laugh. Lol so do you like geology, Bailey asks, um no not really geology ain't my thin' you know, how about you, is geology your than' ? mmm not really replies Bailey, I chuckle at that and say I see, we have something in common already, lol yes I suppose we do don't we, anyway wanna sit with me and my buckaroo's at lunch, sure I guess, it's not like I have any friends lol, cool you won't regret it! I'll wait outside the classroom when class is finished so you don't get lost! Cool, thanks I say.

I go out of the classroom and put my thin's in my bag and go with Bailey, we walk down to the oval with sets of silver chairs already set up, waitin' for our butts to be seated. We eventually reach Bailey's friends, or should I say buckaroos, and I awkwardly introduce myself to the group and sit down. About three minutes pass and someone sits down next to me, I look up to see Nick Collins. I never thought I would see him again, but then again, it's a small town, so maybe we were bound to bump into each other.

I awkwardly say Hello, and he replies hello back. The silence stretches into minutes until Nick breaks the silence by sayin', so, how are you likin' the book? I reply by sayin' I like it, its different from most books I've read, it achingly movin', and I love that about a book, I like how words can make you feel thin's you've never felt before, you go through highs, and you go through lows, and you become one with the characters. Do you have any recommendations as to what book I should read next?! I ask.

Lol, wow you must really like the book, I like how you're so passionate about books! It's a good quality to have! I will have to get back to you on the book suggestions though, there's just too many to suggests so I will write down a list for you, lol thanks I guess, fair enough no rush here, lol ok I will keep that noted, so I see you have met my sister Bailey, how'd you two meet? We had geology together, ah I see, do you like geology Nick asks, lol no, like don't get me wrong its good for people who like rocks n all, but it's not for me. Lol fair enough says Nick and chuckles at the sight as to how I reacted.
