"So what happened?" Válian asked Nero as the half-snake nurse made sure his vital signs were stable.
"Annalis came in like a gust of wind, with her cane she began to fight with the siren while I tried to control the flames...!
I wish I paid more attention, but half of that woman's body filled me with anguish embodying the villain of my brother's video games. She crawled with delicacy, elegance, and femininity, but my mind saw her as creepy.
"But how did you get in?" reinforced security at the limits," Válian questioned.
A much better question was where was Krohonan?
The barracks had been attacked, all the guards came out, but neither their shadow nor peeked out.
Krohonan, Annalis' right-hand man, did not appear when we needed him most.
"And why, among all the places, did he choose to go and attack you?"
Válian's concern made me formulate several theories, all crazy movie exits that had the basilisk as the protagonist.
None of the questions were answered by the appearance of the leader.
"How do you feel?" He spoke softly, almost inaudible.
"Better than you," Nero replied in a mocking tone.
"What happened to your voice?" I approached worried.
"He inhaled a lot of smoke," the nurse replied. He will recover soon.
"I just came to tell you that Krohonan will arrive at dawn with a security report, he went to investigate the boundaries of Apricon in case they saw someone strange enter.
It was time.
"And now?" Where was he a few hours ago when we were attacked?
Annalis looked at Nero, looking for some support or excuse to calm me down.
"The room where you stayed was his," replied the fox, "so he had to rent a room in the village.
"Krohonan hasn't slept in the barracks since your arrival," Annalis finished, leaving my heart in my throat.
There was silence for a moment when I didn't know where to look and I was aware of my conspiracy attitude.
I'm ungrateful.
The groan of pain on the part of the harpy attracted us all.
"Anna, are you okay?" Nero asked.
"Yes... it's just the wing.
"A roof fell on you, it's a miracle you're still alive," Nero snorted.
"Let me check," the nurse approached. Do you want pain medication?
"Will it stop hurting?"
The nurse smiled, baring her white fangs, turning to look for something in the drawers.
"You'll only feel a little rock."
He squeezed the needle releasing a stream of medicine
"No!" He walked away quickly. I'll go to rest.
"Very well, remember to drink plenty of water and hydrate.
"That's what I'll do." And Válian, when you vacate you can come to my office.
"A-alone?" Nero asked.
She didn't even close the door, Annalis ran out, and I couldn't help laughing.
"Why you?"
Válian simply did not allow himself to be lowered to the level of the fox.
"I didn't imagine that he was afraid of injections.
I mean, by the claws the size of my face it's ironic
Válian watched the nurse put her utensils away in the cabinet.
"He's not afraid of him," he said.
"It's not that that needle was very small, either. Did you see it? and it goes through your whole arm.
"Is a wing considered an arm?" I thought aloud.
Nero shrugged his shoulders and smiled and resumed the great feat that would put his name on the lips of every inhabitant of Apricon.
