Explanation for this oneshot lol
In this AU, Ally and Tbh are childhood friends who have grown distant over time due to misunderstandings and external pressures. Tbh is a rising musician, and Ally is an artist struggling with her own dreams. The story is set in a rainy city, where the two meet after months of not talking.---
The soft pitter-patter of rain tapped against the windowpane as Ally sat alone in the dimly lit café. She traced invisible patterns on the table with her finger, lost in thought. It had been months since she’d last spoken to Tbh, and the distance between them had grown into something she could no longer ignore.
They used to be inseparable—two dreamers chasing after their passions. But now, it felt like he was living in a world she no longer fit into. His career as a musician had taken off, and with it came fame, attention, and endless late-night shows that made it impossible for her to reach him. And here she was, stuck in a creative rut, feeling small in comparison.
The doorbell chimed as someone entered the café, pulling Ally out of her thoughts. She didn’t have to look up to know who it was. The familiar sound of footsteps approaching her table made her heart tighten.
“Ally.” Tbh’s voice was soft but carried the weight of everything unsaid between them.
She finally glanced up, her chest tightening further at the sight of him. He looked different—older, more worn, as if the world had carved its mark on him in ways she hadn’t seen before. Yet, he was still the same Tbh she had known for so long, standing there with an expression torn between regret and confusion.
“I didn’t think you’d show up,” she murmured, glancing back down at the table. The words felt brittle, like they’d break if she spoke them too loudly.
He pulled out the chair across from her and sat down, his fingers drumming anxiously on the table. “I didn’t either,” he admitted. “But... we need to talk.”
Ally felt a lump form in her throat. This was the conversation she had been dreading. “About what? How we drifted apart? How you’re too busy with your career now?”
Tbh’s jaw clenched. “You know it’s not like that.”
“Isn’t it?” Ally bit her lip, her emotions boiling over. “You’ve been avoiding me, Tbh. You’ve been so caught up in your new life that you forgot I even existed.”
“That’s not true!” His voice rose for a moment before he took a breath, trying to stay calm. “I’ve been busy, yes, but I never meant to push you away.”
“Then why does it feel like you did?” Her voice cracked, and the vulnerability in her words hit him like a punch to the gut.
. leaned forward, resting his elbows on the table. “Because... because I thought you’d be better off without me dragging you into this mess.” His eyes darkened with guilt. “The fame, the pressure, the constant eyes on me... on us. I didn’t want that for you.”
“I never asked for any of that!” Ally snapped, tears threatening to spill. “All I wanted was to be there for you, and you pushed me away. You shut me out of your life.”
Tbh rubbed the back of his neck, his frustration evident. “I thought I was protecting you.”
“Protecting me from what?” Ally’s voice trembled. “From yourself?”
The question hung in the air between them, and for a moment, all they could hear was the rain hitting the windows. Tbh stared at her, lost for words. He had thought that keeping his distance would make things easier, that he could shield her from the chaos that came with his rising fame. But now, he realized he had only hurt her in the process.
“I don’t need protection, Tbh,” Ally whispered, her gaze softening as she looked at him. “I just need you. That’s all I’ve ever needed.”
Tbh’s heart ached at her words. How had he missed this? He had been so focused on keeping her out of his world that he hadn’t noticed he was leaving her behind. And now, seeing the pain in her eyes, he felt the full weight of his mistakes.
“I’m sorry, Ally,” he said quietly, reaching across the table to take her hand. “I never wanted to hurt you. I thought... I thought distancing myself would keep you safe, but I was wrong. So wrong.”
Ally stared down at their intertwined hands, her emotions swirling inside her like the storm outside. “I don’t know if I can do this again,” she admitted, her voice barely a whisper. “I don’t know if I can keep feeling like I’m always chasing after you, waiting for you to come back.”Tbh squeezed her hand gently, his eyes filled with regret. “I don’t want you to feel that way anymore. I’m here now, and I’m not going anywhere.” He hesitated before continuing, his voice laced with vulnerability. “I don’t want to lose you, Ally. Not again.”
For a moment, neither of them spoke. The air between them was thick with unspoken fears and old wounds. But slowly, Ally’s grip tightened around his hand, and she looked up at him with tears in her eyes.
“Then don’t push me away anymore,” she whispered. “Stay with me.”
Tbh stood up, pulling Ally into his arms. She melted into his embrace, the tension in her body finally easing. The world outside the café continued to rain, but inside, wrapped in Tbh’s arms, Ally felt warmth return.
“I’m staying,” Tbh whispered into her hair, his voice steady now. “I promise.”
