EXT. HOSPITAL ROOFTOP - NIGHT

SHENG WANG
(with a slight nudge on the side of JIANG TIAN)
"So... you're really going to hide your true self from me, Jiang Tian?"

This is the second time SHENG WANG is asking, with some insistence. It's also the second time JIANG TIAN hasn't answered him, just like how SHENG WANG avoided answering his question about why they were in a place he didn't want to be.

Minutes pass, and when JIANG TIAN notices that SHENG WANG has stopped pressing him for an answer, he quickly changes the subject.

JIANG TIAN
(while admiring the various clusters of lights below)
"It's beautiful here, isn't it? Look at those lights down there, they look like stars, right?"

JIANG TIAN says convincingly, pointing at the twinkling clusters of light, waiting for SHENG WANG to follow his left index finger.

But SHENG WANG doesn't look at JIANG TIAN's convincing attempt to admire the lights below. True, they resemble stars, but they aren't real... they are still just lights. To SHENG WANG, they cannot compare to the real stars he's looking at now.

JIANG TIAN also looks up to admire the real stars and the moon in the sky that have been capturing SHENG WANG's attention since they climbed to the hospital rooftop.

JIANG TIAN
(V.O, Voice over)
'Why do I feel like the stars are brighter and the moon clearer tonight? Is it for me to see the speaking eyes of Sheng Wang and answer the questions his lips can't say?'

"Oh okay, I'll answer your questions as long as you tell me first why we're here? Why do you suddenly want to come here when you're afraid of these kinds of place?"

SHENG WANG lets out a musical laugh that quickly turns into sadness afterward.

SHENG WANG
(trying to suppress his bitter laugh)
"Why do we even need to answer things that are obviously we knows the answer for?"

He takes a deep breath before continuing,

"Okay, because I know that even if something bad happens to me, you'd just repeat this, right? Then voilà! We're together again. What do you bet? Am I right? I bet my heart on it. It's already broken anyway."

JIANG TIAN
(V.O, Voice over)
'What kind of bet is that? You're not going to win' I wanted to say, but I held back. After all, I know the words he would say next... the question that follows:

SHENG WANG
"Do you think the heart can still remember the person it loves when it's replaced by another?"
