As they walked through the city streets, Alex fell into step beside her. "So, what's a girl like you doing in a place like this? I mean, besides kickin' the ass of random purse-snatchers," he joked, flashing a grin that could melt the coldest heart.

Sophia smirked but didn't answer right away. She didn't owe him any explanation. But something about the night, or maybe the fact that he didn't seem like he was trying too hard, made her open up. "Dinner with a friend," she said nonchalantly. "Not exactly the most exciting Friday night, but it beats sitting at home with Netflix."

"Yeah, but now you've met me, so the night just got better," Alex teased, his tone flirtatious yet playful. Sophia snorted and shook her head. She had to admit, the guy had a certain charm.

As they continued walking, their conversation deepened. Alex turned out to be more than just a smooth talker. He was quick-witted, intelligent, and surprisingly easy to talk to. They covered everything from their favorite movies to their childhoods. Sophia found herself laughing more than she had in weeks.

When they finally reached the restaurant, Alex lingered by the entrance. "I had a good time, Sophia. You're... different. In a good way."

Sophia raised an eyebrow. "Different? Is that code for 'not interested'?" she asked, her tone half-serious.

"Not at all," Alex said, stepping closer. "Actually, I'd love to see you again."

She hesitated for a second before pulling out her phone. "Fine, give me your number."

He smiled, taking her phone and typing in his digits. "Looking forward to the next 'not-date,'" he quipped before turning to leave.
