A week had passed since New's mysterious absence from class, and Tay's growing anxiety had reached a fever pitch. His once vibrant social media feed was now a barren wasteland, offering no clues to New's whereabouts. Panic began to gnaw at him. Could something truly terrible have befallen this guy?

As the final bell rang, Tay abandoned his usual lunch plans with Nanon and raced to the teacher's office, leaving Nanon standing on the door of the classroom all alone. His heart pounded in his chest as he inquired about New's well-being.

The news was devastating. New was gravely ill and hospitalized. A wave of despair washed over Tay. He begged for New's address, determined to offer any support he could.

New was sick, and he didn't know about this, he was sick, and he couldn't help him or be with him. He was afraid of the idea that New was all by himself all this time, as he was sick. He wanted to take good care of him and hug him. His heart burned so bad at the thoughts of New sick in the bed with no one to take care of him.

Armed with the address, Tay sought out Phuwin, the class's resident academic prodigy. With a mixture of desperation and sincerity, Tay pleaded for Phuwin's notes.

"Hey!" Tay greeted him.

"Hello, are you okay?" Phuwin asked as he carefully closed the book he was reading.

"I'm okay, I just need a tiny help from you," Tay explained.

"What is it?" Phuwin seriously asked Tay as he carefully scanned Tay's worried face with his eyes, removing the glasses.

"I just need to borrow your notes from our classes, please!" Tay begged.

Phuwin, initially amused by Tay's sudden diligence, "you're suddenly so hard-working dear Tay Tawan," he reluctantly agreed and took out the notebook from his bag, placing it in Tay's hands.

"Well, I need to study well indeed..." Tay answered as he took the notebook, "thank you so much! I will copy them and give them back to you as soon as possible." he added and ran out of the classroom.

That night, Tay immersed himself in copying Phuwin's notes. He meticulously organized the pages, adding colour and diagrams to make them visually appealing and easy to understand. As he worked, a sense of purpose began to fill him. Perhaps, in this small way, he could make a difference.

The next morning, Tay set off for New's home, a small gift bag in hand. Inside, he had placed the carefully copied notes, a few pens, and a tiny blue teddy bear. As he approached the house, his mind raced with thoughts of New and the challenges he must be facing. He wondered if New was alone, or if someone was by his side.

Tay's pulse quickened as he approached the house. The number on the doorplate matched the one scrawled on the piece of paper in his trembling hand. This was it. A surge of excitement and trepidation coursed through him.

As the door creaked open, Tay's heart pounded in his chest. He wasn't sure if it was the adrenaline from the sprint or the anticipation of finally seeing New. His mind raced with a whirlwind of thoughts. Would New be receptive? Would their conversation falter as it always had? He couldn't bear to fail again.

The door swung open to reveal New's frail figure, a wan smile gracing his lips. His eyes, once filled with a vibrant sparkle, now held a hint of weariness.

"Hey," New greeted him, his voice soft and raspy. "Come in."

Tay hesitated, his heart heavy. "I heard you're sick," he murmured, his gaze sweeping the room.

"Yeah, it's been a rough week," New replied, gesturing for Tay to sit. "You seem a bit nervous. Relax, make yourself at home."

Tay nodded, his anxiety easing slightly. As he settled onto the couch, New's warm hand rested gently on his shoulder. "Are you okay?" New said.

"I just wanted to make sure you're okay," Tay said, handing New the bag. "I copied all the class notes for you so you can catch up."

"Oh, wow," New exclaimed, taking the bag. "Thank you so much, Tay! This means a lot. I appreciate you taking the time to help me."

Tay's heart swelled with warmth as New gave him a quick hug. "No problem," he replied, his voice a bit shaky. "I was happy to do it, and I learned the material better by writing it down."

New nodded, offering Tay a glass of water. Tay's face flushed a bright red.

"Oh, also, the teacher asked everyone to form pairs for the next project," Tay said nervously, scratching the back of his neck. "Would you mind working together?"

"Sure!" New agreed without hesitation.

"Really?!" Tay exclaimed, his eyes wide with excitement. "But won't your friend mind?"

"Who?" New asked.

"The guy who pulled you out of class last time," Tay explained, his voice filled with uncertainty. "I don't want to interfere."

"No, don't worry about it," New laughed. "We're just friends, nothing more."

"Oh," Tay said, relieved. "Sorry."

"No problem," New replied, smiling and handing Tay a cookie. "Let's work together on the project. I'd be happy to," he said, "and, thank you for the teddy bear, I like blue!" he happily announced.

As Tay lay in bed that night, his mind replayed the events of the day. The image of New's warm smile and kind eyes lingered in his thoughts. He couldn't quite explain the surge of relief he felt when New clarified his relationship with the other guy.

A sense of hope began to blossom within him. Perhaps this was the beginning of something more. Maybe, just maybe, their friendship could deepen over time. The mere thought sent a thrill of excitement through him.

Suddenly, he snapped out of his reverie, a goofy grin plastered across his face. "What's going on?" he asked himself, his heart pounding in his chest. He jumped up and rushed to the mirror. "Why am I blushing?"
