"Ah, shoot!" Nene exclaimed quietly to herself.

Amane and Nene had gone out on a date today. They went to a famous tourist attraction that Nene had been looking forward to for months now. Everyone in school has just been talking about it!

A super romantic scenery with a fantasy-like atmosphere! — or so they sugarcoat.

The place was a park, promised to have a landscape of vibrant greenery, the scent of cherry blossoms carried by the wind, an overpass with many birds and flowers beneath it, and a warm sunset glow that welcomed the evening.

Well, they could've had that. They weren't exactly scammed, it's just that a certain someone was too eager to come. Nene had been waiting what felt like forever, and had somewhat impulsively settled to have a date with Amane there.

Did she plan it out? Of course she did! She had prepared the necessities weeks beforehand! She searched for good recipes, bought things for sanitation like tissues, alcohol, etc., thrifted for cute matching outfits, and everything you can think of. On the morning of their date, she woke up early and started cooking for the snacks that were to bring. She had ironed her modest yet charming pink baby doll dress, packed all the stuff she bought, and even had time to go over Amane's house and fix his stuff for him.

However, when they got there, they sure had a dilemma.

The park was bustling with people. Every square meter was almost completely occupied! Guess people were as excited to visit the place. The vibrant greenery was muted, the cherry blossoms haven't blossomed yet, the overpass didn't have its usual residents, and the sunset wasn't there. In addition, it started to rain.

Why? Well for one, there were too many people that washed out the scenery, the cherry blossoms aren't even in season, the birds were scared away by fellow pestering tourists, and it was just too early for an unreal, breath-taking sunset. These were just some things Nene had overlooked on while planning a bit too much.

Overall, their date was— by all means— ruined.

"I'm so sorry, Amane." Nene took shelter under one of the sakura trees, crouching down. Both Amane and Nene were soaking wet, and their efforts to iron their clothes went to waste. She had her head buried in her arms, with a few tears that held disappointment and embarrassment in them. Soft hics could be heard, but only between the two lovers would ever know.

"It's okay, my steady." Amane whispered.

Nene never really liked the old-fashioned nickname he had for her; but at that moment, it was so comforting to hear her his voice.

Amane was sat right next to her, with his palm gently rubbing her back. His hand was warm, and it was soothing. Nene's weeps had stopped a bit yet her head was softly guided towards Amane's face. He grabbed her cheeks that were red and hot from the flurry of her emotions. Her eyes glittered from her tears, and her nose was runny. Amane quickly took out his handkerchief and wiped her nose.

This sudden act of affection moved Nene, making her face crumpled. She started to cry a bit louder this time, but not from the same reason. Amane wiped away her tears, then held her right hand. With his spare hand, he pushed her hair back to kiss her eyelids. He kissed them reverently, and so did he aswell with her cheeks, her forehead, her neck, and her lips. He resembled that of a welcoming dog. Nene's stomach was whirling every time his lips touched her skin.

"Amane- that's enough. I'm fine now. I'm just- a bit disappointed on how our date turned out but I'm okay." Nene muttered out weakly, trying to be firm. Amane truly knew how to lighten his girlfriend's mood. He really liked the fact that a simple kiss or two would make her happy.

"Nene.. Don't be upset. This date was amazing. I got to spend time with you— we walked around and chatted; and I got to even see you pout. You're so cute when you're frustrated, you know?" Amane teased. Nene could slap him right here, right now from how irritated she was from him but Amane wouldn't be Amane if he was lacking some of his character.

"Ugh.. whatever. But what now? All the stuff we prepared; do we just- go home?" Nene puffed up her cheeks. Amane sat their in thought for a moment, and had an idea.

"Well, I mean, there's not much people left since it started to rain.. And all the food you made would do to waste.. So why not just continue as planned? A few hurdles in the way won't shake our determination. We will have our date. Plus, it's noon. By the time we finish eating, strolling, and all the stuff we have to make up for, it'd be sunset. Does that sound good for you?"

"Ah.. I guess so." Nene sighed in relief. Her boyfriend was content with their date after it going south, so maybe she should too.

The two laid out a huge piece of checkered fabric and brought out all the snacks Nene had prepared. The two chattered and laughed and even went out for a stroll. They took a good look at the greenery that now seemed quite nice without people blocking the view and the scent of the rain replacing the sakuras. They stayed by the overpass and waited in a bench 'til sunset came. The sunset was so mesmerizing, with different hues that painted the sky and the golden glow of sun that blessed their face. Their eyes exchanged gazes and that followed a kiss that was reciprocated. It was only the two of them, hand in hand.

The date was not-so-romantic, but maybe it wasn't so bad after all.
