This chapter is supposed to be longer but I'm cutting this here for now as the next part is going to be much longer.Scenarios of sponsorships and scouting are exaggerated for the sake of plot.
After that Science fair, Sebastian had doubled his efforts in his academics. He wasn't necessarily a bad student. For the most part, he and Barry have similar scores. But with Barry getting a scholarship that will reach to his high school days. Sebastian refuses to be left behind.
Barry had managed to kickstart his own academics. Entering a science strand school, he is closer to getting accepted to whatever future career he had planned. Sebastian knew that Barry had an eye for engineering and forensics. Finding joy in solving mysteries and backing them up with scientific theories. He believes his brother might find himself becoming a researcher, inventing different products and scientific advancements that will help in the various fields.
Sebastian, however, was unsure of his own future. He didn't have any interests that called out to him. He was into sports and theater but he doesn't see himself full time going into an athlete's profession. And he may dance and sing confidently on stage, but he had no taste for the dramatics and lack of privacy that came with it.
His main motivator right now is his role model, Henry Allen. His father continuously saves lives and improves the well being of his patients. While Sebastian never really felt like an altruistic kind hearted person. He felt that it was more Barry than himself. But he saw value in it. Helping the betterment in society is an admirable goal. And he knew that if he does well, he will be able to live his life to the fullest like his father.
But he does have one problem.
"Aren't you supposed to be in rehearsal?"
Sebastian looked up at an African American girl he had come to know as his best friend. He looked down at his watch and stood up in alarm. "Is that the time!"
He started to scramble his stuff back into his book bag.
"Why are you looking through all this?" she asked. "Isn't this more Barry's forte?"
"I have to keep up, Iris." Sebastian said, "Barry's going to Central City Science Academy. I need to kick it up a notch. Find my own thing. I don't plan to be the 'dumb Allen brother', forever."
Iris rolled his eyes at him. "No one thinks that. You're making stuff up in your head again."
"I don't" Sebastian protested hoisting his book bag behind him as he headed towards the Auditorium, Iris following him.
"Weren't you the one who thought that Mr. Simmons and Ms. Carson are dating?"
"They are!" Sebastian defended. "After our rehearsals, we see them going home together in Mr. Simmon's Car. And the amount of small touching and blushing between the two of them is so obvious that the theater group wants to set up a sting to get them together."
"Those kids are as crazy as you are." Iris commented, causing Sebastian to pout.
"They're great." Sebastian mused. "But they can be a little over the top."
"And you fit right in with them."
"I have to head to rehearsal." Sebastian didn't even acknowledge Iris' last comment. "See you tomorrow?"
"Who else will walk me to school?" Iris teased. "Break a leg. Last I heard, this big play had some big sponsors coming."
"Yeah," Sebastian agreed. "Mr. Harris, I'm sorry, Director Harris said that they got the small production company stationed here in Central and CCBN as the major sponsors. If we do this right, we might be able to earn some serious money for the school. Maybe even invest in a better Auditorium."
