The basic idea for this story is basically fusing aspects of the world of Fallout, Cyberpunk 2077, Stalker, Atomic Heart, and RWBY. Project Duststorm is a confusing mix of clashing themes of action fantasy, modern cyberpunk, '50s retrofuturism, Soviet Punk, what it means to be human, existential dread, and cynical comedy.
The world of Project Duststorm takes place in a version of Earth that is both a Dying World and a living death world. Cataclysms and devastating Wars have greatly scarred the planet. The oceans are polluted, the soil is poisoned, and dangerous weather events happen on a daily basis.
The current year is 2077, and the world is teetering at the brink of nuclear war.
In the West, the United States of America is the soul power of North America, having to integrate Canada and Mexico after their collapse. Was there successful repellents of China from Alaska and the failure of the South American War, the US Armed Forces was weakened yet still able to fight. With the help of the largest corporations on the planet, they were able to fight the encroaching Darkness. Technological advancements such as power armor, cyberware, and advanced genetics, the average soldier is as deadly as the most experienced huntsman.
In the East is the Soviet Union. With the Advent of Polymer A, they were able to accomplish technological leaps with their research out of Planet habitation and robotics. Yet the Soviet Union, too, is plagued with corruption, oligarchs, and Soviet officials embezzling money for their own personal gains along with suppressing information about any forms of corruption. With facility 3826 being overrun by Grimm and Rogue automatons, this has greatly weakened Soviet Pride. Yet they fought on. Despite not having the advantage of power armor or cyberware, they more than made up for it by their numbers, heavy use of robotics, and artificial semblances.
And then there's the anomaly that is Ukraine. More specifically, the Chernobyl exclusion zone. An elusive place after the second disaster, closed off from the rest of the public by the government. The Zone is filled with mutants and anomalies that Boggle the human mind. All sorts of people have come to the zone out of either curiosity or greed with the artifacts that lay within. The zone is a popular spot for all sorts of people, from the mega corporations that secretly plunder the artifacts, different types of criminals, the mutants of North America, the faunus, mercenaries and so much more. The zone is a place of equal opportunity for the disenfranchised and the downtrodden.
Then there are the four kingdoms of Remnant, Nations located on artificial continents in the Atlantic and the Pacific. The kingdoms and continents themselves were created to house more people and are currently the largest concentration faunus out there. Three out of the four kingdoms are strangely pacifistic and anti-military with the heavy reliance of huntsman, even though nations like these failed countless times. Rather not to interfere with international affairs. Like any corner of the earth, the kingdoms themselves are playing with corruption and, uniquely, prejudice against the Faunus, even though they are barely mutated compared to the mutants of america. The four kingdoms also are played with the Grimm as well.
These are uncertain times as the world is teetering at the brink of collapse. With Nations pointing their nuclear arsenals at each other and the Grimm ever growing. Follow people in these times, ranging from the everyday person, the soldiers, the mercenaries, the bounty hunters, and the Huntsman. As they navigate this complex dying world.
Here are some ideas I couldn't fit in this summary:
The Grimm themselves are the result of a biological warfare experiment conducted by China.
Dust is a by-product of nuclear weapons usage and anomalies appearing around the world.
The Enclave is a rogue sect of the US government formed after the US economy collapse of 1996.
The '50s retrofuturism of Fallout is more of a trend in this world.
The zone's influence starts to spread around the world, with anomalies popping up in places nowhere near Eastern Europe.
Ukraine itself became independent from the Soviet Union due to Chernobyl happening along with insurrectionist cells around the region.
The resource wars are mixed in with the corporate wars with nations and corporations vying for resources and wealth. This is also the reason why the world is partially scarred with nuclear fire.
Aura and semblances are the result of the zone's reality altering effects.
