|| Next Morning ||

You and Eunwoo sat across each other at the dining table, the silence between you palpable.

Eunwoo's somber expression, a lingering shadow of Gahyeon's rejection, tugged at your heart.

Mr. Jeon's absence, spending time with friends, left the house eerily quiet.

You sighed, concern etched on your face.

Your gaze drifted to the dining room entrance, and a faint smile crossed your lips.

You leaned in, whispering to Eunwoo.
"Brother, would you mind getting the knife from the kitchen for me? I crave some fruit."

Eunwoo's eyes, dull and lifeless, met yours.
He nodded silently, his movements mechanical.

Your heart ached witnessing his despair.

As Eunwoo rose to fetch the knife, the open kitchen plan allowed you to watch him.

"Brother," you called out softly.

He turned, his eyes questioning.

"Check the knife, make sure it's the sharp one," you added.

Eunwoo nodded again, his expression unreadable.

Just as Eunwoo disappeared into the kitchen, jungkook entered the dining room, his presence commanding attention.

You seized the opportunity, fabricating a dire scenario.

"I've heard love is blind, but today I've seen it," you said, your voice barely above a whisper.

Jungkook's eyes snapped to yours, his eyebrows arching in confusion.

His gaze searched for clarity, but your focus lay elsewhere.

You stared at the sandwich in front of you, your words seemingly unrelated.

Jungkook's confusion deepened, his tone laced with frustration.

"Stupid woman, have you lost your mind since you didn't get your phone? You're talking to a sandwich?"

You turned to him, shaking your head.

"No, I'm not talking to the sandwich. I'm worried about Brother's situation."

Jungkook's expression darkened, his jaw clenched. His anger was palpable.

You gestured toward the kitchen.
"Jungkook, look, Brother's really sad."

Jungkook's gaze followed your direction, and he spotted Eunwoo.

Confusion etched on his face. He didn't understand your concern.

Your voice trembled, feigning alarm.
"He got rejected," you revealed, eyes locked on Jungkook.

"Rejected?" Jungkook's query held a mix of surprise and curiosity.

You nodded solemnly. "Yes, the girl he passionately loves rejected him yesterday."

Jungkook's expression transformed, a hint of relief flickering across his face.

He thought to himself 'so that "i love her" was for someone else not y/n.' It was as if he was glad Eunwoo's affections lay elsewhere, not with you.

Your gaze narrowed, irritation flashing. "You're pleased, aren't you?" you accused.
