James steps back inside and answers the phone
A female voice speaks over the phone.
"hello it's Kristy"
James replies
"Oh hi are you here already?"
She urges him to be quick
"Yea I'm outside be quick I've got the engine still running"
"Alright just give me two minutes I'll be down in a second" he then hangs up on her
James steps back out onto the balcony to say goodbye to his grandma, she walks him to the door and kisses his cheek on both sides then hugs him.
She grabs his hand and places twenty pounds into his palm, he tries to refuse it.
"Honestly grandma I don't need your money I've got enough already"
"Oh don't be daft sweetheart it's for you"
"Well if you're absolutely sure then alright I'll use it to get stuff for me and Kristy"
He takes the money and thanks her then waves her goodbye and walks towards Kristy's car
James opens the door to see his sister Kristy staring at him with a confused expression
"Since when do you have a beard" she asks
"Since I decided to stop shaving and grow my beard out I don't know what you want me to say it's not magic is it mate"
"Don't be arrogant James it really doesn't suit you"
She starts the car and asks her how their grandma has been
"So how's Nan I've not seen her since like forever"
"Basically the same to be honest apart from her hair it's gone a lot more grey now"
"Did she ask about me or anything?"
"No she didn't say anything she just asked me if I wanted a coffee and if I've eaten"
"Well did she make you anything to eat because we're about to go for dinner, you'll have lost your appetite"
"Well that's why I told her I'm not hungry, she gave me a cigarette though"
Kristy looks over to him and she throws James a look of disgust
"What?" He says
"You need to stop smoking it's disgusting just vape instead If you must" She says condescendingly
"Okay well you know I've been smoking for years so"
"You stink of cigarettes too James it's disgusting"
"You literally used to live with her,don't pretend the smell of cigarettes bothers you"
She rolls her eyes and changes the subject
"Right well I need to top up my petrol so I'll get you a vape if you want just,I'd rather see you vaping than smoking"
"Quickly because the exit is coming up any second now so make up your mind, If not I'll just get petrol on the way back"
He stutters his words
"Fuck I don't you put me on the spot man"
"QUICKLY!" She shouts
"DON'T RUSH ME MAN I CAN'T THINK!"
"You nearly popped my ear drums doing that what the fuck are you doing"
"Just pick a flavour or forget it"
He palms his face in his hand and shakes his head as he exhales out of frustration
"Cherry, please... if they have it"
"And if they don't?"
