Thorne and Y/N had finally arrived at Slaerin.
"We're here! Haze! We're here!" Thorne exclaimed, grabbing Y/N by the shoulders and shrouding her in a tight loving embrace, "We made it!"
Y/N was in shock. Over the weeks they had been travelling it had gotten distinctly colder and colder. It made sense. Ayoucan was much farther south than the other kingdoms. That's why it was always safe from invasions. It was too out of the way for any kingdom—even Slaerin—to care about.
Y/N wrapped her arms around her green-eyed boy and grinned. Maybe, just maybe, her life was starting to look brighter. After everything that happened...maybe she found a home.
Y/N wasn't sure if she could believe all of this was real. It seemed too much like a dream. She could hope though, hope couldn't be bad, wrong. She hoped.
Staring at the sparkling stone of the border she couldn't help but gasp, "Wow..."
"Never seen anything this fancy, have you?" Thorne joked. Her poor green-eyed boy still believed she had come from poverty.
Little do you know, Y/N thought with a gentle smile, Little do you know.
"It's amazing," She said instead of spewing out all the truth of her many lies that suddenly felt piled together, "But how will we get to the Chief?"
"Usually," The grinning boy murmured in Y/N's ear as they kept their tight embrace, "They don't allow refugees in, but I know a secret way. It leads all around and it's very efficient."

That was how Thorne and Y/N both ended up in the drainage pipes—rummaging underground the smells of horrid things intensified by the tenfold.
"I thought you said it was efficient," Y/N whined grappling onto Thornes's shoulder as her foot slipped on you-don't-even-want-to-know-what.
Thorne laughed and grabbed Y/N's waist. His excitement and smile were contagious no matter how many times Y/N joked and acted annoyed. Y/N started to smile brightly back at the green-eyed boy, his eyes reminded her there was still hope for her life, and her.
The two trudged along across the eternities hands on each other's waists, the same determined excitement in their eyes.
They moulded into each other perfectly, it wasn't awkward at all.
The question of whether they were still just friends buzzed through Y/N's mind, but just as quickly as it came, it left. They didn't need to question anything. They had each other, so both of the young adults knew they would be okay.
Together—As One—The two moulded people climbed out of the sewer.
That moment—For anyone else, it was two kids stepping out of the sewer, but for Y/N, it was a new life. An escape. A rebirth. Maybe it was the same for Thorne, his grin spread across his face with incomparable joy.
"Chief!" He yelled pulling Y/N out of the sewers and holding tightly to her waist as if to separate her, showing how special she was to him. In turn, Y/N slinked her arm around his back and held fast.
"Chief!" He called again right before an old man came limping out dragging a cane in front of him.
Thorne's face erupted in joy, "Chief! Chief! Look! This is Y/N! She says she wants to join the Mirage, and I told her she could and she's, truely, very sweet! She is escaping from Ayo—"
Chief stole Thorne from Y/N's grasp and arrested him in a tight embrace.
With Thorne all the warmth Y/N had previously felt escaped. She felt bare.
