Seeing as how Rats live only 2 to 3 years max, they will often pass away after those years so when I first started this book I had 4 all female Rats named Melody, Viola and Vivace then a little while later I got Sweet Pea all of who were from the same litter of babies. They have passed away due to Tumors in their old age. So after a while I got two new Rats still both girls because female rats smell less than male rats. I got both of my Rats from Aquarealm, which is a small pet shop in my small town. The main reason why we don't get 1 girl and 1 boy is because if we left them in the same cage there would be a lot more baby rats than when you left them.

I named one of my girls Cin but her full name is Cinnamon. She is an Albino rat who had had babies before we adopted her, and because she had babies before we got her. Cin had got a bad habit of biting any hands that went into her cage with her babies, but when I put my hand into the cage, when her babies were old enough to be taken away from her. She didn't bite it but instead gave my hand kisses, which is a strong showing of trust and acceptance in the rat world. Although one of her children did nibble at my hand but it was more of a "what's this?" nibble than an anger nip, which I understand fully. I was massive and they didn't know me.

My other girl is named Marble and she is a Hooded (marking on rat fur) Dumbo meaning her ears are on the side of her head rather than the top. Marble also has the Rex gene, which means her whiskers curl inward a little and her fur texture is a little rough Marble is also a lot more chonky than her sister Cin. She has what I like to call Rat anxiety, because she doesn't like to be picked up and will spread her legs out and tense up whenever I pick her up. Marble also has VERY sharp nails and she leaves small cuts on my hands after I hold her.
