All Rats have different levels of vocalization so it differs from Rat to Rat. Also most of rat noises are outside of our hearing range of around 20 Hz to 20 kHz simply, because of the fact that Rats have more sensitive ears then us at around 22 kHz to 50 kHz
They can brux and boggle when happy which is basically when a rat is really happy and they grind the top and bottom teeth so hard they seeing as how they have a nerve that goes behind their eye socket their eyes will wobble in and out of their sockets this doesn't cause any pain or discomfort in your pet rats. Rats could also brux and boggle in order to comfort themself when in pain.
Rats can also make noises while playing with other pet Rats, a squeak that can basically mean "ok you win!" or even "uncle" so don't worry they aren't hurt.
They can also make a noise when they don't want to be picked up right now.
