Chapter 1: Kikyo's Resurrection

Kikyo is dying in Inuyasha's arms. Everyone stood around and watched. Kagome blamed herself for her death because she tried to save her, but Goku comforted her saying it wasn't her fault.

Piccolo couldn't stand watching to see Kikyo suffering and Inuyasha grieving for her. He gritted his teeth as he folded his arms tightly; he couldn't bear to see them like this. He wanted to do something. He wanted to.

If you are wondering why Piccolo and Goku were here, well...

It was just him, Goku, Gohan, Vegeta, Krillin, Yamcha, Tien, Chiaotz, and Future Trunks. Just the nine of them.

The Z Fighters somehow transported to the feudal era because of Future Trunks' time traveling. However, Future Trunks messed up the timelines by creating the portal to transport the warriors to another universe and travel back through time where they have no place called home. After being transported, they met Inuyasha and the gang and became friends. At first, Inuyasha thought they were the threat or Naraku's incarnations or pawns, but they assured them they were not enemies, just friends. Inuyasha explained the situation about Naraku and the Shikon Jewel shards and that was when the Z Fighters decided to help them find the shards and Naraku. Lastly, Gohan and Chiaotz become friends with Shippo.

After a while, everyone discussed Inuyasha's eagerness to guard the cave alone; Miroku noticed the barrier was not evil, but pure instead. Kagome began to suspect Kikyo may be up to something, which made Piccolo curious about it.

Within the statue, the chrysalis opened and a soul collector hatched. Inuyasha followed it, realizing it was Kikyo's scent he detected earlier. Piccolo began to follow them, seeing what was going on.

There, Piccolo found Kikyo purifying herself under a waterfall and thinking back to when she was wounded at Mount Hakurei. Piccolo had never seen the priestess so beautiful, though she was the undead priestess and that was possible for him to fall for her. Piccolo had no idea what this feeling was all about. Was it love?

Suddenly Inuyasha arrived and asked why she wanted Midoriko's soul. Kikyo revealed that Kagome was unable to completely purify the miasma that Naraku used against her; the wound was reopening. Kikyo explained that Midoriko shared a similar death to her own, having been killed by a demon; she absorbed Midoriko's soul, but the strain of the absorption caused her to collapse. Inuyasha rushed to her and saw the wound on her shoulder heal.

After that, Inuyasha and Kikyo split up before Piccolo had a chance to head back to the Demon Slayer village.

Another while, Piccolo eventually met Kikyo in person after they attempted to defeat Naraku. Miroku's left hand was wounded because of the toxic miasma he had sucked in with the Wind Tunnel. Kikyo has to take care of him. Kikyo saved him by absorbing and purifying the miasma in her body, although this greatly worsened her own body's condition, which worried Piccolo. He wanted to make sure she was alright, but he noticed Kikyo wasn't alright.

Kikyo and Kohaku encountered Naraku's spiderwebs during their travels together. He used these spiderwebs as a way to contaminate and weaken her. However, Kikyo had already realized Naraku's plan and remained under her own incredibly strong and powerful spiritual barrier. She contaminated herself when she attempted to save a child from the web. She summoned her Shikigami Kocho and Asuka to place a barrier over Kohaku to protect him from Naraku's reach; however, because she was entangled in Naraku's spiderwebs, she became defiled, and the barrier over Kohaku was broken by one of Naraku's incarnations, Byakuya and Kocho and Asuka were destroyed by Byakuya.

She told Kagome, who had also been defiled by Naraku's webs, that the only way to save her life was by acquiring the longbow from the sacred Mount Azusa, but only if it was truly what she wished. Kagome traveled to Mount Azusa, where she was tested by an illusion cast upon her by the Spirit Guardian of the sacred mountain. After passing the test, Goku saved Kagome from falling into the sky. It appeared the two had connected, and Kagome had noticed him. Goku, Kagome, and Inuyasha returned to find that Naraku had already captured Kikyo.
