After driving, I finally arrived at my best friend, Jazlynne’s, apartment. I had nowhere else to go, and it didn’t help that I lived with my cheater boyfriend. I also couldn’t go to my parents' or siblings' houses because all they would say was “ I told you so” and I didn’t need that kind of comfort.
The only person I could think of who wouldn’t say anything like that and would actually comfort me is Jezelle. Not to mention, I was a huge mess. My hair was ruined, my make-up running, eyes filled with tears. I’m just glad that I didn’t fall on my face because my eyes were full of tears that blurred my vision.
Once I reached the door, I didn’t hesitate to make a racket in the building. I knocked so loudly on the door that I wasn’t even sure I was knocking anymore but banging. After about 2 decades ( 3 minutes actually), she finally opened the door “WTF is going on here - OMG, Sheila? What's wrong, honey?" she asked. I just pushed her aside and dropped on the couch.
She followed me and hugged me while I was busy breaking down from the pain I was experiencing. After a while, she pulled away. I looked at her, confused about her actions. We stared into each other's eyes, and an understanding passed through us. She held me close again as I continued to sob.
" He is so going to pay," I heard her say under her breath. That made me chuckle a bit. As soon as I finished all my tears, I looked up at her and said “ I can’t believe I ever loved him” She just nodded in agreement.
