The atmosphere in the room was lighter than it had been in days. After their eventful outing, S.Coups and Jeonghan found themselves back in their shared apartment, the buzz of the city quieting down as the evening stretched into night. The glow from the city lights cast a warm, golden hue over the room, creating a peaceful ambiance.
Jeonghan stretched lazily on the couch, his long limbs sprawled out as he watched S.Coups busy himself in the kitchen. The soft clinking of plates and the low hum of the fridge was the only sound, creating a serene rhythm that matched the calmness in Jeonghan's chest. He hadn't felt this relaxed in a while.
"You know," Jeonghan began, his voice light, "I could get used to this. Just you, me, and the calm after the storm."
S.Coups chuckled from the kitchen, glancing over his shoulder at Jeonghan with an affectionate grin. "You say that now, but I give it a week before you start itching for more excitement."
Jeonghan laughed, knowing there was some truth in S.Coups's words. "Maybe. But right now, this is perfect." He paused, his gaze softening as he took in the sight of S.Coups moving about their shared space with ease. "You're perfect."
S.Coups's face flushed slightly at Jeonghan's words, but he kept his cool, turning back to finish preparing their late-night snack. "Flattery will get you everywhere, you know."
"Is that so?" Jeonghan teased, sitting up and crossing the room to stand beside him. "Well, in that case..." He trailed off, leaning closer until his lips brushed against S.Coups's ear. "I should keep it up, then."
S.Coups felt a shiver run down his spine at the closeness, but he kept his focus on the task at hand. "You're too much sometimes, Jeonghan."
"And yet you love it," Jeonghan replied, not missing a beat.
S.Coups couldn't argue with that. He did love it-every part of Jeonghan, from his teasing to his gentleness, to the way he could make even the simplest moments feel special. As he finished plating their snack, S.Coups turned to face Jeonghan, a soft smile playing on his lips.
"I do love it," he admitted, his voice soft but sincere.
Jeonghan's heart skipped a beat at the honesty in S.Coups's words. For all their playful banter and teasing, moments like this reminded him of the depth of their connection-the unspoken understanding that no matter what, they were in this together.
They sat down at the small table, sharing quiet conversation and stolen glances as they ate. The food was simple, but it felt like a feast with the warmth of their companionship filling the room.
After they finished eating, Jeonghan stood and stretched again, letting out a content sigh. "You know, it's moments like these that remind me how lucky I am."
S.Coups raised an eyebrow, leaning back in his chair. "Oh? And here I thought I was the lucky one."
Jeonghan laughed, walking over to S.Coups and leaning down to kiss him softly on the forehead. "We're both lucky."
S.Coups's heart swelled with affection as he wrapped his arms around Jeonghan's waist, pulling him down onto his lap. Jeonghan let out a small yelp of surprise, but quickly melted into S.Coups's embrace, resting his head on his shoulder.
They sat like that for a while, wrapped up in each other, content with the silence. There was no need for words in moments like these-just the quiet comfort of being together.
"I've been thinking," S.Coups said after a long pause, his voice low. "About the future."
Jeonghan lifted his head slightly, looking at S.Coups with curious eyes. "What about it?"
S.Coups hesitated for a moment, as if gathering his thoughts. "I've been thinking about what we talked about earlier. About what comes next for us."
Jeonghan's heart began to race slightly, but he kept his expression calm. "And what have you decided?"
S.Coups tightened his grip on Jeonghan, his gaze steady as he spoke. "I think... I think we should take things one step at a time. No rush, no pressure. Just... enjoying what we have, day by day."
Jeonghan felt a wave of relief wash over him at S.Coups's words. "I couldn't agree more. There's no need to rush into anything. We have all the time in the world."
S.Coups smiled, leaning in to press a soft kiss to Jeonghan's lips. "Exactly."
As they sat there, wrapped up in each other's warmth, Jeonghan couldn't help but feel like they were on the cusp of something new. It wasn't about grand gestures or life-changing decisions-it was about the quiet moments, the everyday things that made their relationship so special.
They didn't need to have all the answers right now. All they needed was each other, and that was enough.
For now, the future could wait.
