Silver Linings

Prologue

"Why Dhruv? Why did you come to my life? Why did you break my boundaries if all you wanted to do was to leave me alone. You were my silver lining Dhruv... Admist all my misery you gave me that ray of hope to love again" She yelled onto the mirror trying to hold back her tears.
She closed her eyes but to be haunted by his charming smile. Every moment they spent together, his every act of love, his touch, his words everything kept running in her like an infinite loop. She wanted to shout, to run, to just be rid of the pain that seethed through her physically. She had ended it all yet she still expected that he would run back to her. She waited for that notification, she ran on every ring of her phone anticipating it to be him. But all she got was silence. And she had known deep down that he had ended it long before she did. She couldn't help but desperately pray to God to help her sleep. Help her forget him atleast for a few hours.

As he stood watching the moon from his balcony, all he could feel was the peace he felt after so long. The peace from all the guilt that weighed him down. It would be a lie if he said he did not miss her or he had no feelings for her but those were not enough after a point. He knew that the more he held on to her the more it would break and he no longer held the energy to help her heal. He knew only letting go can free them from their pains. He just wished that one day she sees the ray of sunshine she is and she realises that she does not need a ray of hope and she can be her own light.
