The Guard Dog's Kitten

Prologue: Who is this Kitten?

He was still young when it happened, only about eight or nine years old at the time.

What happened?

Well this young man should probably be explained a bit first.

He is the child of two demons of completely different decent and personalities.

His mother is an affectionate and rather gentle creature who gave him all the affection and love a child would want. Especially a shy and rather frail child in a world of demons.  Her black hair reached just past the middle of her back that contrasted with her bright orange eyes.  She was rather small for a demon and looked weak but was strong enough to live as long as she had.

Which actually wasn't that long compared to some demons.

She tried to be a happy being and helped her son see happy things in life. Though what was really noticeable about her was the pointed ears on top of her head and the long tail that extended from her spine.

His mother is a neko.

His father is a bit distant but very protective. He knows that his father cares about him but there are many things that he will never understand and he can't be spoken with about. He prefers to solve his problems with strength when he can instead of trying to think things through.

His father's hair was just as black as his mother's and short but the eyes were a different color. They were red. He was tall and slim but strong. Not only that but he was also quite a bit older than his mother, but what is age to a demon?

His father was also a crow, much different from his mother.

Now for the boy himself.

His appearance wasn't that different from his father's, besides the few attributes that undeniably connected him to his mother. They shared cat ears and a tail but while his mother's tail had long fur his own tail had short fur.

He also took after his mother in his size, or so it seemed for now. Recently though he'd actually started gaining a little weight but it wasn't quite noticeable yet. He was small and fragile looking compared to other young demons he'd seen.  But none of them really payed attention to him unless to pick on him for being small and sticking close to his mother.  The boy actually held quite a bit of power inside him but due to the calm nature that he had also inherited from his mother kept it from being released too often.

He never bothered to try and get attached to any of the demons around his age, they didn't really interest him and he didn't feel the need to get close to them.  He preferred to cuddle up to his mother when given the chance than to wrestle or compare abilities with the others.

He seemed to be an oddball amongst the other demons.

But the day came when his father was summoned and contracted to a soul. This was the first time in the boy's life that his father had been contracted and he did not know what to expect.

His mother, on the other hand, knew and refused to both of them being left behind. She insisted on going along with him and bringing their son along.

His father agreed with the reasoning that it was about time for his son to learn how a contract worked.

That wasn't quite what his mother meant but she got her way. Honestly she couldn't wait to show her son what human food tasted like since she preferred it over the souls that her mate consumed. Sweets were her favorite and she wondered what he would think about it.

Naturally the excited behavior of his mother excited the boy as well. He couldn't wait to see the wonder of the human world and learn what he could. He could meet a human for the first time too!

He was told that he wouldn't need anything to take along. It wasn't like he actually had things to take along though. He wasn't like his mother who seemed to have a treasure from each time she'd been to the human world. Perhaps he'd be able to create his own treasure collection starting with something from this trip.

How could a young boy know just how much this would change his life. Even his parent's lives would be affected by this more than anyone thought.

Thus the story of this little kitten began.
