Not the Best Day, Not the Worst Day

Today I get to go on an errand with Father and Ciel and I was happy about that since while I tended to stick to Ciel's side, I rarely got to do something like this.

Finny had broken Ciel's walking stick a few days back so he had to order a new one but I didn't mind. Ciel on the other hand was rather upset about it because it as his favorite walking stick.

The three of us walked into the shop to see the rather portly shopkeeper.

"Welcome, boys. On an errand for your father?"

I blinked and looked at Ciel who didn't look happy at all. I bit my lip a little, that isn't the right type of thing to say to him.

Father stood a bit behind us, behaving every bit the butler that he is while I stood close to Ciel behaving as a brother or close friend might.

After a moment, Father stepped in front of us and held his arm out.

"Excuse me. We came to get Master's cane."

He stepped forward to take the cane from the shopkeeper.

"Ah, so you're the owner of this cane. Exactly what sort of person do you intend to have use this cane? It couldn't be one of those kids..."

I narrowed my eyes at the man but he was cut off by Father aiming the end of the cane at him as if he were going to hit him.

This made me smirk a bit. At least Father stood up for us.

"It doesn't bend. It's a well built cane."

The man was in shock and I couldn't help but giggle at his face. Father plopped a bag of coins down on the counter as Ciel nudged me to head outside.

"Did you see his face Ciel? I bet he'll never speak bad about you."

I giggled again.

Ciel reached up and pat my head.

"And that is a good thing."

He waited for Father to give him his new cane before walking any farther. I as always stuck close, even if it wasn't something that Father approved of. I didn't care what Father said about it. Ciel was the first person besides Mother and Father that I could consider my friend.

"Humph... Finny's idiocy is another bothersome thing."

I just smiled and looked at him.

"Thanks to that, I got stuck with getting a new cane."

I grinned and poked his shoulder.

"At least it's a nice cane though."

He sighed a little bit but didn't reply to me. Instead Father spoke.

"Indeed, it's true that you grew, but it did take time."

That comment upset Ciel a bit and I pouted a little bit.

"Don't worry Ciel! You're taller than me and not that much older."

He looked up at me again and sighed.

"I suppose you're right..."

I suppose that now might be a nice time to tell you about what Ciel does.

He's the head of the Phantom Company which is England's confectionery and toy company which has grown quickly in just a bit under three years.

Anymore you see the Phantom name everywhere!

Actually I really like some of the toys and the candies.

"Now then Young Master, Vincent let us return to the manor quickly."
