Hi everyone. I wanted to take a moment to say a few words about the amazing Maggie Smith. I know I am not alone in saying her portrayal of Professor McGonagall was perfection and she will never be forgotten. As a Gryffindor I was gutted when I found out the head of my house was gone. She meant so much to so many and I know her legacy will live on. I want to dedicate this chapter to her and her memory. Thank you for being the best Transfiguration teacher and Headmistress a Hogwarts student could ask for.
Mattheo sauntered into the common room, adjusting his tie as he went. First and second years mostly filled the common room this morning, but he spotted someone he didn't want to see. Daphne Greengrass was standing by the large windows that looked out at the black lake. Her hands rested on the pillar just off to the side. As she leaned her head back, she looked over.
He tried to look away before she could lock eyes with him, but he wasn't that lucky today. She smiled brightly at him as she swayed her way over. Once she reached him, she grabbed his tie lightly.
"You've been avoiding me," she whispered, pulling his tie down so that his lips were close to hers.
He placed his hand over hers and squeezed, causing her to let go of the grip she had on the green and silver fabric.
"Ow," she whimpered. "What was that for?"
"Whatever happened between us while I was wasted happened, but it didn't mean shit," he said coldly as he pushed her back. "You were a fuck I don't even remember."
"You don't mean that," she replied, reaching out for him again, but he grabbed her hand before she could.
"Don't touch me," He seethed as he threw her hand down and made his way to the exit, but not before turning back. "And don't be late tonight."
Mandy waved to Lyra as she walked into the Transfiguration classroom. Professor McGonagall was sitting behind her desk with a stack of books on one side and a caged bird on the other. Arriving early to class, she surveyed the room to check if Mattheo was already there.
"So..." Mandy tapped her quill on the desk. "You and Mattheo, huh?"
"It's just for a paper," she replied, keeping her attention on the door.
"Uh, huh. Is that why you keep staring at the door, waiting for him to show up? Because of a paper?"
Theo and Draco came in first, finding a seat in the far back of the room, and in their wake was Mattheo. His expression appeared reserved and somewhat distant. Lyra got up from her seat and walked over, meeting up with him as he took a seat at the desk in front of Draco and Theo.
"Hey," she said, tapping her nails on the wood.
"Hey," he replied. His eyes shifted like he wasn't focusing on her, but at multiple points around the room.
