The drive to Hogwarts was maddening. I just sat in my compartment, staring at the Daily Prophet and pretending to read, then to sleep, and then read some more. Everything so people would leave me the fuck alone.

Sebastian's murder-turned-suicide-Imperio-incident has been all over the news. More than ever, people see him as troubled and worthy of love and attention, making me sick. I can't begin to cover what it feels like when you're jealous of something you could have but shouldn't.

Minister for Magic orders an investigation into the death of a Hogwarts student

Alaric Nott (18 at the time of death) was killed last July. The circumstances surrounding his death were suspicious at first, but a voluntary Veritaserium interrogation of students Sebastian Sallow (previously acquitted of murder) and Elara Hardice-Avery (daughter of the Minister for Magic) shed light on the events of that night. Alaric Nott was killed by the Killing Curse, used by Sallow, who acted under the Imperio curse. Priori Incantatem, used on Nott's wand, could prove he's used the Imperio curse multiple times on Sallow. The death was subsequently ruled a suicide.

Not only because her daughter was involved, Seraphina Avery ordered an investigation into the events. 'This does not just cover the night of the killing,' she explains. 'We have far more to cover. It cannot be that we, as the ministry, let students alone in situations like that. We have to investigate how Mr Sallow could be cursed, and the professors at Hogwarts didn't realise. I am also looking into the events surrounding his uncle and sister.'

Mr Sallow was previously acquitted of the murder of his uncle. According to official court documents, he was freed based on self-defence. Mrs Avery did not wish to comment further on that incident. 'That case is closed.'

It was previously rumoured that Elara Hardice-Avery had a personal connection to Sebastian Sallow, and the minister's interest in his life stemmed less from a need for justice but a need to protect her daughter. However, Miss Hardice-Avery has been linked to a different Hogwarts student, who cannot be named for reasons of personal rights.

The ministry was supposed to research the curse inflicted on Sebastian Sallow's twin sister, Anne Sallow. However, St Mungo's hospital declared in August that Miss Sallow was finally free of the curse.

'We are still trying to understand what healed Miss Sallow and will state our findings when the time comes,' said St Mungo's in an official statement.

I close the paper. It's no news to me. I know it all from my mother. I don't even know why I keep on reading this crap; I really shouldn't. It doesn't get me anywhere.

When we arrive at Hogwarts, I try to look out for Theodore. He explicitly requested not to sit with me on the train because that would ruin his chances of finding friends. I'd like to disagree because I am pretty popular, but I think he lied when he said he doesn't think I'm cool enough. The reason likely was that if people knew I was his sister immediately, he'd be in the background, and it'd be about me instead. As someone who kept their last name a secret for her first year at Hogwarts, I understand.
