                            Normal POV

It took a while for Sebastian to return. I knew he was alright, he always was after these encounters. The silence was beginning to get to me, but I knew better than to go looking for the mutant.

I hummed a nameless tune to myself, pacing to kill time, adjusting little items Sebastian had on display now and then. My head tilted to the vent as I heard a couple loud thumps and the little bulb was the first thing to appear.

"You're back," I smiled gently, Sebastian mimicking the face as best he could. It was much softer than his normal smirk.

"I'm back," he replied. "You. . . cleaned up a little," he eyed the neatly placed items he originally sold to other prisoners that were sent down here.

"The quiet was driving me crazy," I chuckled awkwardly. "Uhmm, we'll be okay here, right?"

"Only for a while," Sebastian ruffled my hair gently. "I've made. . . a mess. Long before we met. And it's a war I plan to win, as terrible as it sounds, I planned to win long before we met. You are someone I didn't plan for, and I need to fight harder so I can protect you too."

I glanced away, hugging the jacket to myself. "I don't mean to cause you trouble," my voice was quiet. My head subconsciously leaned into the mutant's hand that rested atop my head.

"You aren't trouble. You're the best thing to enter my life in a long time, Y/n," Sebastian settled on the cold floor. "Get some rest, I won't be leaving any time soon."

The room was plunged into silence once more, save for the soft sounds of us breathing. A chill ran through my body, not surprising considering there was no heat in the facility, and the fact that the clothes Sebastian had found were old and worn out.

The mutant's tail nudged me carefully, urging me to move closer to him and his jacket was draped over me once more. "You're shivering," he commented quietly, my cheeks flushing from embarrassment.

"I'll be alright," I replied, grasping the jacket tighter after saying that. Even through the musky scent, it was warm and comforting. The mutant stiffened slightly as I leaned into him carefully before his body relaxed.

"Thank you," he hummed out, fingers combing lightly through my hair. "For staying, I mean. You've seen the horrifying things I've done, and you've stayed," his hand paused and pulled away.

"Of course," my voice was soft as my eyes struggled to stay open. "I like it here with you. . . It's quiet," I mumbled.

"You. . . you shouldn't like it here. I want you to be somewhere nice. Somewhere habitable for a human, Y/n," his voice was hardly a whisper. "Life here isn't sustainable for you."

"We can get out of here," I let out a yawn. "We're gonna get out together, right?" my head rested on his torso. The room went quiet. "Sebastian?"

"Sorry," he let out. "Together, Y/n," his arm wrapped around me slightly, as if he were scared to break me. "I promise."
