I have a feeling this is gonna spark up negative replies and such, but I strongly believe that people of color can be racist as well. As a white person, I have experienced racism. Like people saying that white people are evil, or we are targeting people. This is wrong. Everyone can be racist. Anyone can be a target of racism. Racism means treating one other of another race unequally. Martin Luther King Junior said "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character." Why is this important? Because, King never said to treat people unjustly because of what was happening. King was kind. King had mercy. He knew what was happening in America was wrong. But he never told anybody to treat the descendents those people(or just white ppl in general. I'm actually not a descendent of that party) unjustly. He just wanted us to be colorblind. Not the new definition of colorblind, the definition where everyone can live in peace without worrying about discrimination. Right now, a lot of white people are victims of racism because other people are twisting his words. I am not saying anyone who is reading this is racist.
I'm just trying to speak out about this because I have been a victim of racism, so has my friends. Its not right. People shouldn't be treated better or worse because of their race. If you are white, you shouldn't be treated cruely. If you are of color, you shouldn't be treated cruely. If you are white, you shouldn't be treated better than people of color. If you are of color, you shouldn't be treated better than white people. Its that simple.
No one is racist for giving a scholarship to a white person over a black person, same the other way around. Racism is not a label that should be thrown around. Racism is serious. If you are being treated in an unfair way, but you happen to be of color, that doesn't mean that person is racist. If they are treating unfairly for the soul purpose of your race, that's where the problem is.
Anyways, racism is serious. I'm not saying it doesn't exist. It does. And I'm not saying white people can't be racist. I have seen white people being racist to people of color. Its not right. But the thing is, being victims of racism isn't just for people of color. It is a term for everyone.
