Chapter 5

I woke up to my Black Veil Brides alarm with a stinging feeling in my arm.

"Fuck." I groaned. I threw my phone across the room for probably the millionth time as I rolled up my sleeve, forgetting about last night but the memories are quickly brought back as my gaze meets my red, puffy arm lined with cuts.

(hey so arthurs note I probably should have put a trigger warning...oopsies I'm so sorry guys)

Why would I do that? I should've texted Vic instead. Thats such a better idea, I thought. I'll just wear long sleeves from now on until it heals.

I want to take a shower since I'm feeling musty but as soon as I step into the water my arm stings like no other. I gasped and jumped out of the water, getting the floor all wet but I don't care.

I decide to dry off and put on an oversized hoodie, laying back in my bed. I don't have anything to do today, so might as well sleep, I thought.

---Vic's POV---

I sit in my bed, coloring in my Bluey coloring book thinking about Kellin. He's so pretty. I think I might have a crush on him. Crush? I can't be having these thoughts about him. I turn on some music to distract myself and continue coloring. (Coloring isn't childish by the way lots of people do it >:(

I listen to my music as I smell cinnamon. I tread down the stairs and see that my mom has made cinnamon rolls. My mouth waters. I LOVE cinnamon rolls.

"First day of October, so I made cinnamon rolls to set the autumn mood." She smiles at me.

"Thanks mom I love cinnamon rolls!" I exclaim as I grab one. I eat it swiftly, licking frosting off my chin and around my mouth. There's a bit on my nose so I get that too.

Autumn...That gives me an idea. Fall... Pumpkins... Pumpkin patch... Carving pumpkins... I love carving pumpkins!

"Hey mom, do you wanna go to the pumpkin patch later with me?" I request hopefully.

"Oh, I'm sorry baby me and your dad are going to visit Mike." She says apologetically. I grumble at that. I fucking hate Mike. He's caused so many issues for me and has done bad things.

I just hum in response and clean my plate before dropping it in the sink and hopping up the stairs. Just then I think of something.

I type Kellin's name in my phone and call it, listening to it ring a couple times before he picks up.

"Hey Kellin, whatcha doin'?" I ask casually.

"Mmm...what?" he mumbles groggily. I assume he was sleeping. Oops.

"Oh sorry were you sleeping? You can go back to sleeping if you want." I suggested.

"What were you gonna say?" He asks a little more clearly, ignoring my previous statement.

"Well, I was wondering if you wanted to go to the pumpkin patch with me today... and maybe carve pumpkins after?" I wearily ask.

"Um..." The phone goes silent for a second. I begin to think he hung up.

"Yeah sure." He answers after what seems like forever. He sounds so gloomy and unenthusiastic. What happened?

"Great!" I smile into the phone, and he hangs up.

---Kellins POV---

I hang up on him. Was that rude? The call was over anyways, I thought. Vic just invited me to go to the pumpkin patch with him. I should feel excited. The feelings aren't really there though. I feel so drained and sore. I at least make an effort to look nice. I go with a white short sleeve topped with a brown and black flannel since its October now, and my signature black ripped jeans.

I trudge over to my dad's room and hesitantly ask him if I can go. I glance at my phone. 11 AM. What time did he say he was picking me up?

"Yeah whatever, be back by 5." He replies sluggishly. Is he drunk? Its 11 in the morning for fucks sake! At least I get to go. As I'm about to close his door he yells my name like I'm not 5 feet away from him.

"Don't go around kissing boys." He grumbles. That wouldn't happen in a million years, but I just nod in response and go back to my room to finish getting ready.

I spray on some perfume and go to the mirror. My hair looks disgusting. I make a sick face at myself, but I need to suck it up as I hear a knock on the door. Fuck. He's here already? I quickly scanned my room and found a black knitted beanie. Good enough, I thought.

I open the door and am met with Vic's bright smile. I notice his eyes scan over my body discreetly, but I pretend I don't. I smile back, however not as big.

"Are you okay Kells?" He asks caringly which makes my heart melt. I just nod and step outside with him, closing the door behind me.

As we drive to the pumpkin patch I catch him occasionally glance at me. What's that about?

We arrive and I stare at all the beautiful pumpkins, ranging from orange to yellow to white. I forgot how beautiful fall is. He grabs my hand and leads my down to the pumpkins.

"You pick one and I'll pick one, kay?" He beams and I nod, smiling.

We walk through the field of pumpkins and eventually I find the one I want. It's super cute, tiny but tall. I hold it up to him and giggle.

"D'you like it?" I ask him, giggling. He just chuckles and smiles warmly, his eyes shining.

"I love it!" He begins. "Only the prettiest pumpkin for the prettiest boy." He says, mumbling the last part so I could barely hear but I still could.

"Huh?" I ask confused with a half-smile on my face.

"What?" He exclaims, with the exact same tone and expression. I just shake it off and take the pumpkin out of his hands, jokingly caressing it and cradling it like it's a baby.

He laughs at me and my "pumpkin baby" but I shush him as I point to it and motion that it's sleeping.

We look for a little bit longer to find his pumpkin and he picks out this weird looking fat yellow pumpkin. I don't judge him for it though, I keep a smile on my face the whole time. He pays for them, and we go to his house to carve them. Vic has brightened up my whole day.

Vic lays a towel down in his kitchen, which I don't know why we couldn't just do it outside, but he just said he doesn't want me to get cold or dirty. He gets up for a moment to get knifes and buckets. Oh no. I forgot about the seeds. The guts are so disgusting! I don't wanna touch them. Why did I agree to this?

He sits back down and hands me a knife, cutting into his own already. I cut open the top and hesitantly start reaching in and ripping out guts. I cringe at the feeling in between my fingers.

I think he notices because he laughs at me and reaches over.

"Don't worry I got you." He chuckles at my and rolls up my sleeves. Oh no.

He's smiling but his face falls as he tilts his head at an angle and he gets a glimpse of some of them. He looks up at me before looking back down again, slowly turning my forearm around to see the crimson lines.

I try pulling my arm away but he softly holds it and keeps it in place. I look away, not bearing to see the look on his face as he examines them. I almost tear up, almost. As I glance back at him I discover he's already there. I clench my jaw and forcefully pull my sleeve down, washing off my hands.

"You can carve mine." I utter, almost whisper. I don't even look him in the eyes as I shuffle out the door.
