"So how'd you meet Rach?" Tom asked Lizzie over the noise of the premiere's afterparty.
"What?" She asked, voice raised as she leant a bit closer to him to hear better. Tom let out a tipsy laugh before repeating his question. "Oh, her college made her do another course in addition to acting and she took journalism. Her whole class was given a person to interview and she got me after my first album came out. We just kind of stuck."
The man nodded, sipping his drink as he nodded towards Rachel and Josh dancing. "They're so happy."
"You think I don't know? Every time she called or texted me she was rambling on about him."
"And you weren't rambling about your boyfriend?" He asked. "Marcus Runt is a pretty big name. Wish I could've talked to him more."
That was bullshit. He had every opportunity to talk to Marcus but her partner was just a jealous bastard that refused to acknowledge Tom's existence.
He was threatened. And he got mad at Lizzie even though she'd only just met the actor. The issue he had was that, in his mind, women all thought the same thing and, unfortunately for Lizzie, every girl and their mother was currently fangirling over Tom.
She'd only just come out of the bathroom, having been in an argument with Marcus.

"Bullshit!" He scoffed. "All of you think that guy's attractive."
"What do you mean 'all of you'? I've just met the guy!"
"Social media, the movie is all over social media, Liz."
"I've been focusing on songwriting! I haven't even been-"
"Don't yell at me." Marcus suddenly lowered his voice, acting as if he hadn't begun the argument. "Don't get pissed when you're the one who's drooling over some other guy."
"But I'm not!"
Lizzie felt so trapped by him. It wasn't her fault that Tom was a good looking man! But even then she wasn't going around shouting that she thought he was attractive or gossiping with Rachel about what he was like.
Every argument with Marcus felt like running through a forest. Any time she made a point and ran further, he'd hit her with some bullshit manipulation and she'd trip over a root, never escaping the woods.

"Liz!" She heard Marcus yell from a few metres away. She couldn't hear Tom less than a foot away but Marcus could always be heard. And he looked annoyed, seeing the closeness of her and Tom.
He nodded to her, gesturing they should be going.
"It's been great meeting you." Lizzie stood up, smiling at Tom. "You're gonna be huge."
Tom grinned at her, thanking her before frowning. "You're going?"
"Yeah."
"It's only eleven and you haven't even eaten anything."
She clenched her jaw, nodding as she smiled tightly. "Yeah, yeah... Marcus and I are gonna eat at home."
