Juniper was on her dad's back when she, him, and Scott went to check out a movie store that got attacked by a creature and left someone for dead they climbed onto the roof and looked at the scene below them.
"Starting to get it?" Derek says."Uh, I get that he's killing people, but I don't get why." Scott answers."I mean, this isn't standard practice, right? We don't go out in the middle of the night to murder everyone, do we?" Scott asked.
"No. We're predators. We don't have to be killers." Derek replies."Then why is he a killer?" Scott asked."That's what we're gonna find out." Derek points out and they head off towards the car.

They get to the Hale house and Scott follows Juniper and Derek inside."You know, I have a life too," Scott says."No, you don't." Derek bluntly says.
"Yes, I do! I don't care what you say about him making me his pet or - " Scott rambles when Derek cuts him off."Part of his pack." Derek corrects him.
"Whatever. I have homework to do. I have to go to a parent/teacher conference tomorrow because I'm failing chemistry." Scott tells Derek."Do you want to do homework? Or do you want to not die?" Derek says.
"You have less than a week until the full moon. You don't kill with him, he kills you." Derek continues."Okay, seriously, who made up these rules?" Scott asks annoyed."It's a rite of passage into his pack," Derek informs him.
"You know what else is a rite of passage? Graduating from high school. And you don't have to kill anyone to do it!" Scott moans."Why can't you just find him yourself? Why can't you just sniff him out when he's a human?" Scott questions.
"Because his human scent could be entirely different. It has to be you. You have a connection with him, a link that you can't understand," Derek tells him.
"I can teach you to control your abilities, you can find him." Derek explains.
"So if I help you - you can stop him?" Scott says to Derek who nods."Not alone. We're stronger in numbers. A pack makes the individual more powerful." Derek tells him.
"How am I supposed to help if I have no idea what I'm doing?” Scott replies.
"Because I'm gonna teach you. Do you remember what happened that first night you were shot in the arm - Right after you were hit?" Derek wonders
"Yeah, I changed back," Scott says."And when you were hit by his car, the same thing, right? What's the common denominator?" Derek says breaking Scott's wrist.
"What the hell are you doing?" Scott asked in pain."It'll heal." Derek says."It still hurt!" Scott shouts.
"And that's what keeps you human - Pain. Maybe you will survive." Derek says walking away with Juniper.

Derek and Juniper were eating toast and having some milk before leaving to go to the school to speak with one of the kids who potentially saw the alpha last night.
"So why have we got to go to Scott's school again?" Juniper wonders." To speak to a lad about what he knows," Derek says with a smile.
"So come on, shoes and coat on please, "Derek says with a smile." Okay Daddy," Juniper says softly as she grabs her shoes and hat.

Derek drove to the school and made his way inside with Juniper and sniffed out Jackson who was in the locker room they stood behind and Jackson turned around. Jackson jumps back in fright.
"I-I don't know where Scott is," Jackson says."I'm not here for Scott. I'm here for you," Derek says walking forward.
"Wh-wh-why me? I didn't do anything." Jackson stammers."No, but you saw something, didn't you?" Derek smiles.
