Part 5

The next day Saffron walks into Chipotle at the beginning of her shift. She spots Kai getting everything set up and dashes over to him.

"Is your offer still up" she says, tips of her ears slightly red.

"For... the technoblade fan" he lifts an eyebrow, and Saffron nods. "Yeah"

"Perfect" she breathes, then pulls out her phone. "Actually, I found out  something about them you're gonna wanna see"

Kai pushes his head back. "Um... Should I be worried"

"No, it's nothing bad" Saffron giggles, then searches them up on her phone. "Here, look"

Kai looks at Saffron's phone, and his eyes widen, before grabbing her wrist and bringing the phone up to his face. "Hey... Is that"

"Yeah it's our favourite customers. They're minecraft youtubers" Saffron says, taking her phone off him.

"Fucking hell" Kai exclaimed "Are you a stalker or something"

"No. I showed Keira the picture you sent me yesterday and she recognised the blonde one as he was on the Dream SMP, then we used Instagram to find his friend" Saffron explains, putting her phone away.

"The dream smp" Kai chortles.

"I know. First time I've heard that in years" Saffron comments.

They both let out a laugh, but are interrupted as the door opens and a few regular customers come in. Saffron knew it would be a few hours until Walli and Purpled could come in they had never come in the morning before.

But the plan was set in stone, Saffron had the box with her number written on it on a shelf under the counter, just to be sure it was wasn't given out to the wrong person. If they walked in, she would hand it to Kai to be filled, if they didn't come in, she would cry but repeat it tomorrow.

Every time someone came through the door, her head would fly up in hopes of it being them. The hours went by and they were still not here. Minute by minute, her giddy excitement faded more and more.

That was until, the door swung open, and he entered. Wearing a technoblade shirt and his usual messy hair.

"Hey dudes" Kai says, beginning on theory food.

"Hello" Purpled says.

Saffron was too dazed to think about small talk. She had been looking forward to this all day. In a few minutes, he'd have her number.

She taps at the cash register, contemplating giving them an extra discount- just because.

"Did you watch Minecraft live" Walli's voice brings her back to reality.

Saffron looks up and spots him stood infront of the cash register, Purpled talking to Kai about something.

"Yeah, I was watching it in class" Saffron answers. "The new biome seems cool"

"Disappointed about the movie though" he responds.

"Tell me about it" Saffron complains "Did they use ai to make the cast or something"

"Exactly. Why is the guy from school of rock there" Walli adds, making Saffron laugh.

"Yeah and Jennifer Coolidge, I don't think she should be in the minecraft movie" she says.

His head tilts slightly to the side and he freezes for a second. "I know, a bit random"

Saffron was slightly perplexed at his reaction but doesn't have time to say anything as by that time, Kai was ready with Purpled's bowl. He puts it to one side and looks at Saffron.

"Can you pass me a box please" Kai asks, unable to hide the knowing smirk on his face.

Saffron freezes slightly, and glances down at the box that was on the shelf, her number written on the side in black ink.

During her short conversation with Walli, she had already forgotten about the task she had given herself.

Seeing Walli almost everyday had become the highlight of her shift, she didn't want to make it so awkward that he'd never come in again.

She'd never been given an actual sign that he was interested. Everything he did could just point to him being plesent, and she didn't want to be the idiot that mistook niceness for being interested in her.

"Sure"

Saffron takes a silver box from the pile of new ones and passes it to Kai. His eyebrows furrow as he looks at it, because it wasn't the one she had written on, but he doesn't say anything and starts filling it as normal.

As Saffron watches Kai make their food, as she didn't want to make eyw contact with Walli, because the regret was already seeping in. She was an idiot.

Kai made it quicker than usual and Purpled and Walli go to sit down. Saffron was fully aware of what was awaiting her.

"What the fuck" Kai whispers, taking a step closer to her.

Saffron hangs her head lower. "I'm sorry"

"No I'm sorry" he retorts, though all the threat was taken away once Saffron saw the grin on his face. "You're the one who has to live with it"

Saffron let's out a sigh as she looks at Walli, he could've had her number right now, but he didn't.

"I don't know if he's even interested" she admits.

"So what if he's not" Kai "He's literally a guy at Chipotle, it'll mean nothing"

Saffron sighs, she takes the box with her number on it and scrunches it into a ball and throws it in the bin.
