Darkness.

That was all he could see around himself. Wrapped within the comfortable blanket of darkness.

He really didn't hate his cupboard, it was a safe haven for him from them. However, it did raise problems when he woke up from terrifying nightmares that clutched on his mind and refused to leave him.

It made breathing difficult, the simple task of taking oxygen in like fire burning his lungs.

Right now, he lay curled up in a fetal position on his cot, recovering from new bruises and scars that were recently added to his already battered and fragile body.

He had broken a plate, again. But it wasn't his fault. No, it was his elephant of a cousin's fault. He had made Harry trip again and he received a punishment, again.

The last time this happened, all it took his relatives to forget the incident was just a burn to his hand on the stove.

But this time, his uncle was already cross, and the shattered shards of the plate added on to his fury and lashed it out on him so much so that he....God, he couldn't think about it without the stinging taking place in his eyes and the formation of a lump the size of a mountain in his throat.

He just wished someone would take him in. Any long- lost relative, a family friend, anybody that would save him from his relatives' torment.

He silently prayed for someone to rescue him, which was a daily ritual for him. And then, sleep took over him and he dozed off into a much needed sleep.

At the same moment, hundreds of miles away, a man was going to rise from a complete state of assumption about a boy whose life had been marred instead of living like a prince in a castle.
