The Outbreak

Year:2003

In the year of 2003 a virus broke out spreading across the world and wiping out half of humanity. The Grims, a strange deformed monster the virus created, killed everything that stood in their way. No one had ever seen a grim and gotten away alive, they are so agile and fast that you would be killed in seconds. Although there is no official description on the Grims' appearance, there has been widespread news of how durable and powerful they are. This was passed down from people who had fought against the Grims before they had passed away. The news had been officially recorded by the scientists as the word got spread around and it stated, "The Grims can not be penetrated by any bullet nor lethal weapon made by humans, they can not be harmed by modern technology."
Over the next week the world they knew became a wasteland. Half of Earth's popularity decreased by 60%. The survivors all fled into underground bases or anywhere they would be safe.
Although a few of them became...abnormal, they started to evolve and morph into creatures you could only imagine in your dreams. Not long after people started to notice the evolution, scientists locked them up and forced any normal survivors to work for them. They found out that these people had been infected with a gas the Grims gave off, that they called untious. This unusual substance caused strange abilities and the people and the scientists wanted to produce more to test on.
These peculiar people also had peculiar children. Sadly, the children also got intensely experimented on. Some would get badly hurt and some even died.
The Grims got worse over the years and they found ways into the protected bunkers and laboratories. Everyone in the south of England took this as a warning and moved up to North England. The north of England wasn't the safest but was calmer than London, where the outbreak had taken place.
From there time evolved and the grims got stronger. Scientists enforsted a rule that the abnormal people should be trained to use their strange abilities and fight the Grims, this would start at the age of 15 when they should know what their abilities are. But if you don't want to fight you could simply ...
Die.
It was a threat, forcing people to fight or die. The scientists gave them a choice, you could either die just as you are starting your life and let humanity fade away or fight and help save humanity so you can have a future yet this system has been going on for centuries and there is still no future in sight.
This may seem to be a very easy choice to some, but can be very stressful for others. If you think about it you can come to the conclusion that if you choose to fight, there is a 30% chance of you failing your training and then a 10% chance of your team not liking or appreciating you and finally a 80% chance of you getting killed when you come to actually fighting the Grims. After your doctor tells you this, you get a week to decide. Most of the abnormal people would gladly choose death which was very surprising to the scientists as they lost so many gifted children. When the doctors asked why they chose death the answer they got most was "Either one you choose there both leading to death. One just gets you there faster". Some children chose to fight and there was a fair amount that did. It was around 45000/100000. Most children who have the right abilities to fight and kill normally end up going to the training centre. It was implied that only the brave ones decide to fight.
