The day had finally come.
Mikasa and Sasuke stood side by side at the entrance of the Ninja Academy, the towering gates seeming larger than life as they gazed upon the place where their shinobi journey would truly begin. The academy loomed ahead, surrounded by bustling students and shinobi, many of whom were excitedly chattering about their first day. The air buzzed with nervous energy, but Mikasa remained calm, her expression composed. Beside her, Sasuke fidgeted slightly, excitement and nerves fighting for dominance within him.
Their parents, Fugaku and Mikoto, stood behind them, along with their older brother, Itachi. Fugaku's face was as stern as ever, his pride masked by his usual stoicism. Mikoto, on the other hand, wore a warm smile, her motherly affection unmistakable. And Itachi—he stood with his usual calm demeanor, his sharp gaze focused on Sasuke and Mikasa, though there was a glint of pride in his dark eyes.
Mikoto crouched down slightly, adjusting the collar of Sasuke's shirt. "You'll both do wonderfully," she said softly. "The academy is only the beginning of your journey. Don't be afraid to ask for help if you need it."
Sasuke, brimming with excitement, barely contained his grin. "I won't need help, Mom. I've been training with Itachi. I'm ready."
Itachi smiled slightly at his younger brother's confidence. "Remember, Sasuke, strength is important, but so is patience. Don't rush things. Learn what you can here and apply it."
Mikasa, standing quietly beside them, glanced up at Itachi. He had always been her role model, not just as a shinobi, but as a protector of their family. His words, though simple, carried the weight of wisdom gained through experience. She nodded, understanding the depth of his advice.
Fugaku stepped forward, his gaze sharp and authoritative. "You're both representing the Uchiha clan. Take pride in that, but don't let it go to your heads. Hard work and discipline come first."
"Yes, Father," Mikasa and Sasuke replied in unison, their voices steady.
Fugaku gave them a rare, approving nod before turning his attention to Itachi. "Watch over them," he said quietly.
Itachi's gaze remained calm as he responded. "I will."
As the family stood together, Mikasa couldn't help but feel a sense of unity and purpose. This was the beginning of something new, not just for her and Sasuke, but for the Uchiha legacy they carried with them.
"Go on," Mikoto said, standing up and placing a gentle hand on Mikasa's shoulder. "We'll be waiting for you at home."
With a final glance at their family, Mikasa and Sasuke turned and walked through the academy gates together. They didn't look back, but they both felt the weight of their family's pride and expectations on their shoulders. The academy, a place where new bonds would form and rivalries would begin, was now their new battleground.
They entered the courtyard where other students were gathering, Sasuke looked around eagerly. "Do you think Itachi was this excited when he first came here?" he asked, his voice barely containing his anticipation.
Mikasa smiled softly. "I'm sure he was. But I think he was more focused than anything else."
Sasuke nodded, his determination flickering in his eyes. "I want to be like him, Mikasa. I want to be the best—just like Itachi."
Mikasa placed a gentle hand on his shoulder. "You will be. And you'll do it in your own way."
The sound of a bell echoed through the courtyard, signaling the start of the academy's orientation. The children gathered in lines, and soon enough, the instructors appeared. Among them was Iruka Umino, a young and energetic chunin, with a warm smile on his face.
