The moment I stepped out of the store, I took deep breaths and felt like tons of weight lifted off my chest. My phone pinged and I checked it was Blake's tweet, which stated, "Life is so unexpected; never always get what you intended or planned."

I murmured. "What the hell is he trying to say?" and dialed his number, which went straight to his voice I cursed him and dialed Thea and she picked up. "Ian, if you are calling because Blake asked you to do so..."

I didn't let her complete it. "Thea, nobody asked me to call you; that idiot Blake is not responding so I called you to ask about him."

Thea blew her nose maybe she was crying before my call or I don't know. "Oh, so he didn't tell you yet."

I dropped bags on the floor and sat on the couch. "I don't know what you are talking about and where is Blake?"

Thea responded like she didn't care about him anymore. "I don't know either where he is."

I requested Thea. "Please at least tell me what happened to him?"

Thea sighed. "I can give you a heads-up; our relationship is on the verge of crumbling."

It felt like someone yanked the rug under my feet. "What are you saying?"

Thea once again sighed. "Ian, right now I am not in the right frame of mind to talk or explain anything."

I immediately responded. "Yeah, we'll talk later and please don't jump the guns."

Thea without any emotions in her cold tone. "Okay, thank you, bye."

I tried Margot but the way she was talking, I sensed she had no idea about Blake. I opted not to tell her and ended the call. I checked the time; only one hour left to meet Renna. I decided to pin Blake's issue for a while and headed to take a shower. This morning when I didn't find her running, my heart sank, and I thought I lost the opportunity to talk to her about us, so now I was right on time waiting for her to come out. Renna walked up to me with flared nostrils. "You didn't even bother to mention; where should I wait for you? I mean, who does this to a girl?"

I smiled and asked for her phone she gave me it without any hesitation. When I gave her back, I told her. "I saved my number in case of confusion next time."

Renna picked up the helmet. "There will be no next time."

She hopped on my bike. "Where are we going?"

I started the bike. "You'll see."

The whole way to the cafe, we didn't talk. Renna adjusted her hair after removing the helmet. I held her hand while entering the cafe. She looked at me and I lifted my head in a way to ask if there was any problem. Renna shook her head and smiled. I exactly did what I have been watching Blake do with Thea. I pulled a chair for her and she seemed surprised. I asked when I sat opposite her. "Today you are unnecessarily quiet."

Renna shook her head and kept her hands on the table. I smiled and once again I held her hands. "Come on, Renna, if you are not going to say anything, it would be difficult for me to talk."

Renna cleared her throat. "Can I ask you something?"

I nodded. "Yes, please anything."

Renna looked into my eyes. "You came here to this cafe because I am wearing a uniform, not some fancy dress."

I kept holding her hands and shook my head. "I didn't even bother to wear something fancy so take all these useless thoughts out of your mind."

Renna didn't try to push my hands or pull her hands away from me. "Usually guys bring girls to someplace fancy you know to impress."

I looked at our hands and smiled. "I didn't ask you out to impress you. I asked you out to show you who I am."

Renna pulled her hands back and I let go of her hands. "And why do you want to show me who you are?"

I leaned forward and looked into her eyes. "Come on, Renna. Stop playing dumb with me. If you want me to say it loud, so listen. There is something between you and me and I want to explore it."

Renna tried to smile but failed miserably. "Ian, I moved to Glisten because of my bad experience with relationships. I am sorry, I am not ready for some new adventure so..."

I didn't let her complete and shook my head. "Trust me, I don't believe in relationship cliches but this is the first time I have felt this way so please let's not label the spark between us."

Renna opened her mouth but I raised my finger to stop her. "All I want is for you to give us a chance because we don't know what the universe holds next ."

Renna sighed. "Okay, I'll think about it."

After finishing our meals, when I dropped Renna off, she handed me the helmet. "If I decide not to go for any adventure, like a relationship, will you stay my friend?"

I sighed. "I can't be your friend, Renna, because a friend doesn't want to kiss and..."

I pressed my lips and waved at her. "I am looking forward to your decision."

When I returned home, I pinned Renna and started looking for Blake for hours. I have tried every place where Blake could be; now there is only one place left and this is his practice field. The moment I climbed off my bike, my eyes fell on Blake standing in the middle of the field holding his bat.

Blake is trying to push me away. "If I am not responding to your calls or voice, that means I don't want to talk."

I flicked my finger between him and me. "And you think you can ignore me by doing this?"

Blake nodded. "Yeah, that was the plan."

I sniffed him around. "What the fuck? You have been drinking since morning."

Blake flared his nostrils and kept his bat on his shoulder. "I can drink whenever I want."

I raised my brows and clenched my jaw. "Don't tell me you get wasted in the morning, then tweet some stupid stuff and drive all the way here."

Blake started to step back but kept his false bravado. "Yeah, so?"

I pointed at the stands. "Sit here and tell me everything."

Blake didn't protest and sat with me. For hours I listened to Blake's sulking and anger. When he was about to pass out, I took him to his place where he didn't want to go. When I was coming back to my place, my phone buzzed. It was Renna: "Let's give it a try."
