I sat in the interrogation room, Rafe by my side. Shoupe, with a stern face leaned forward, his hands clasped together.

"So, let me get this straight," he said, his voice firm. "Ward Cameron, the man who was supposed to have died in a suicidal boat explosion, is now alive and well in South America?"

I nodded, "That's correct."

Shoupe raised an eyebrow. "And how, exactly, did he manage to survive such a catastrophic event?"

I took a deep breath. "He used scuba gear. He must have planned it beforehand, anticipating the explosion."

Rafe spoke up, "I didn't know he was alive until I received a message from him, asking for my help to transport a shipment across the border."

Shoupes eyes narrowed. "And did you guys aid him in this endeavor?"

Rafe nodded.

Shoupe scribbled some notes on his pad. "I see... And can you tell me where Ward Cameron is currently hiding?"

I shook my head. "We don't know. We haven't had any contact with him since the last time we saw him at the airstrip, along with my son, he's in South America too and I want him back."

Shoupe leaned back in his chair, "Don't worry, we'll find your son. And when we do, we'll arrest Ward and bring him to justice once and for all for the murder of Peterkin."

Rafe let out a heavy sigh, his eyes troubled. I reached out and took his hand, trying to offer some comfort.

Shoupe nodded, his once stern expression softening slightly. "You're both free to go. But I'd advise you to stay out of trouble and not say a word to Ward about this investigation."

We nodded, rising from our seats. As we left the interrogation room, Rafe's grip on my hand tightened.

"Let's go home," I said. Rafe nodded. We walked out of the police station, and went back home.

As we walked into our living room, Rafe pulled me into a gentle hug. "Hey, it's going to be okay. We'll get back Tommy safe and sound."

I nodded, still feeling worried. "I'm just so scared about Tommy," I admitted, "I couldn't believe I didn't even remember him climbing on the plane..."

Rafe tightened his hold on me. "You were distracted, Scarlett. It's understandable that you didn't remember."

I nodded, "I just feel so guilty for not being there for him. For not protecting him."

Rafe brushed a strand of hair behind my ear. "You're an amazing mother, Scarlett. Don't doubt that."

I nodded, my worry slightly subsiding from his comforting words. But the fear still lingered, refusing to be shaken off.

Two days passed, each one feeling like an eternity. I barely slept, my mind racing with worst-case scenarios and fears for Tommy's safety. And on top of that ive been dealing with the aftermath of my assault and the legal processes id have to endure.

But on Monday morning, suddenly, there was a knock at the door. I rushed to answer it and I flung open the door, my eyes scanning the faces in front of me...

And then I saw him. Tommy surrounded by the Pogues. I let out a cry of relief, sweeping Tommy into my arms. "My baby! I missed you so much!"

Tommy hugged me back, his small arms wrapped tightly around me. "Mommy!" he exclaimed.

I looked up at the Pogues, tears streaming down my face. "Thank you," I whispered, my voice choked with emotion. "Thank you for bringing him back to me."
