The next few days were filled with intense training and preparation. The Shadows' attack had awakened a new determination in the group, but also a deep concern. They knew it was only a matter of time before the darkness would return, stronger and more determined than before.
Sara felt the pressure growing every day. Her connection to the Source grew stronger, but also more demanding. It was as if the Source was calling her, drawing her deeper into its powerful energy. She knew she had to maintain the balance between drawing on the powers of the Source and maintaining her own strength, but finding that balance was getting harder and harder.
One evening, while the group was resting after a long day of training, Leo pulled Sara aside. His blue eyes were dark and serious, and she could tell immediately that something was bothering him.
"There's something I've been thinking about," he began in a low voice, as if he didn't want the others to hear it. "Something about that attack... it felt wrong. Like they knew exactly where to attack."
Sara nodded slowly. She had had the same thought, but had pushed it away, focused on survival. "I've thought about it too," she admitted. "But what do you mean it felt wrong?"
Leo looked around as if expecting someone to overhear them. "I believe we have a traitor in our midst," he said at last, his voice hard and cold.
Sara's heart skipped a beat and she could feel a chill spreading in her stomach. "A traitor?" she repeated, her voice barely a whisper. "Who? How?"
"I don't know," Leo replied, shaking his head. "But something about it all doesn't add up. The shadows were coming too fast, like they knew exactly where we were and how to attack. They couldn't have known that unless someone told them."
Sara felt a twinge of fear and doubt. They had all worked so hard together, trained, shared their fears and hopes. The thought that one of them might have betrayed them was almost horrible to bear.
"We have to find out who it is," Leo said, his gaze locked on her. "If we do nothing, we can't trust anyone and that will be our downfall."
Sara nodded, her mind swirling with thoughts. "We have to be careful. If someone has really betrayed us, confronting them without proof is dangerous. It could cause division in the group, and that's the last thing we need right now."
Leo seemed to consider her words before slowly nodding. "You are right. We must act wisely. But we cannot ignore this."
Together they agreed to keep an eye on the others, look for signs of deception and try to figure out who they could trust. But it was a difficult task. Sara couldn't help but feel a tight feeling in her chest every time she looked at Livia, Tobias or Leo himself. Could it really be one of them?
The days passed, and as the training continued, disbelief became a constant shadow that followed them. Whenever they were together, Sara felt an invisible tension in the air, as if everyone was waiting for something to break.
One evening, while they were sitting around a fire in the forest sharing a meal, Tobias suddenly got up. "I've been thinking about something," he said in a tone that immediately got the attention of the others. "We will have to fight the shadows before they attack us again. We cannot continue to defend ourselves. We must find their source and stop them."
Livia looked up from the fire, her green eyes shining in the light. "But how? We don't know where they come from or how to stop them."
Tobias' gaze flickered for a moment before he answered. "I've heard rumors of a place, deep in the forest, where the darkness is strongest. I believe that's where they draw their power from. If we can destroy their source, we might be able to weaken them enough to, that they can no longer attack us."
Leo frowned, his disbelief evident. "And how do you know? Who did you hear these rumors from?"
Tobias shrugged. "Various sources. I've spent a lot of time studying the ancient texts and there are clues pointing to this place. It's worth a try."
Sara could see how the others hesitated. They were all tired and worn out from the first attack, and the thought of taking up the fight in unknown territory was terrifying. But she could also feel the truth in Tobias's words. They couldn't keep waiting for the next attack. They had to take the initiative.
"I agree with Tobias," Sara finally said, breaking the silence. "If we can find this place and stop them, it's a risk we have to take."
Livia nodded slowly, her fear evident but she was also determined. "If we're going to do it, we're going to do it together."
Leo seemed to struggle with his own disbelief, but finally nodded. "We do. But we have to be careful. If anyone is trying to betray us, this might be exactly what they want us to do."
Sara could feel her heart beating faster. They agreed to take up the fight, but she knew the danger was greater than ever. Not only from the shadows, but also from the invisible enemy that might be hiding among them.
As night fell and they prepared to find the dark place that might be the source of the shadows' power, Sara couldn't help but wonder if they were truly ready for what they were about to face. And whether they would all stand together when it really mattered.
Because if Leo was right, and there really was a traitor among them, this could be the beginning of the end, not just for them, but for the Source itself.
