Monday, I wake up like any other day lately, dragging myself out of bed and starting to get ready for uni. The sunlight filters through the curtains, casting soft patterns on the floor as I stumble toward the bathroom. As I get closer, I hear the shower running, mixed with some frantic noises and the unmistakable sounds of—please, someone save me from this household.
I recognize it's Belle's voice, and with last night's snacks creeping their way back up my throat, I turn around and head into the living room instead.
"Hurry up, fuckers!" I yell, settling onto the couch and pulling out my phone to scroll through social media.
A few minutes later, Aiden stumbles into the living room, his hair tousled and his eyes still half-closed. "Why the fuck are you yelling?" he mumbles, rubbing his face as he heads for the coffee maker.
"Guess," I reply, smirking.
He chuckles and pours himself a cup, glancing at me as he takes a sip. "Did you sleep at all last night?"
"Enough," I say, trying to brush off the concern. "I just didn't expect our apartment to turn into a porno before 8 AM."
"I regret making them confess. Now they don't have to hide it anymore..." Aiden rubs his face in mock devastation.
"Yeah, fuck you. You're responsible for this, why the fuck did you have to figure it out?" I snap at him.
"I'm not stupid, how could one not realize those two have been fucking," he retorts.
Before I can respond, Belle finally emerges from the bathroom, hair wrapped in a towel and a sheepish smile on her face. "Sorry about that!" she chirps, glancing between us. "You know Kai."
Aiden raises an eyebrow, clearly enjoying the chaos. "No one needed that visual before breakfast, thanks."
"Good morning to you too!" she shoots back, swatting him playfully. "Where's Kai? I thought he was right behind me."
"Probably still trying to wash the shame off," I reply with a grin, and Aiden chuckles again.
"Hey, at least we're all awake now," Belle says, moving to the coffee maker.
"Sure," Aiden deadpans, sipping his coffee.
"Kai, get the fuck out of there, I'm late to class!" I yell, making Aiden and Belle chuckle.
Just then, Kai stumbles into the living room, hair sticking up in all directions and a sheepish grin plastered on his face. I get up, walk past him and into the bathroom.
"You look like you need some, Ly," Kai calls after me, wiggling his eyebrows suggestively.
"Need some what? Meth? Yeah," I shoot back, trying to keep the conversation light as I splash water on my face. But his meaning hangs in the air like a cloud of awkward tension.
"Yeah, right," he says, smirking. "You know what I mean."
I groan, rolling my eyes as I glance at my reflection. "I need more than just dick, trust me you misogynistic shit!"
Kai bursts out laughing, his grin stretching wider. "Well, you definitely won't find it in this house," he teases. "You have to actually interact with new people for that."
"Great, I'll just put that on my to-do list," I shoot back sarcastically, but there's a small part of me that agrees with him. Everyone's happily involved with someone, except for me.
"Just sayin', if you want some action, you gotta go out and get it!" he insists, leaning against the doorframe, clearly enjoying this.
"Maybe I don't even want to be involved with someone," I reply, trying to sound nonchalant. The truth is, I've been feeling a bit lost when it comes to all of that lately. The only person I do want, is my roommate, best friend, in our friend group, and involved with another person of our friend group.
