The wedding itself was a rather small affair, a testament to the hasty nature of the marriage. The ceremony was quick and straightforward, with the Septon conducting the vows in a somber tone. Prince Aemond Targaryen stood quietly, his expression stoic and indifferent, while Lady Fiyona Bracken smiled slightly, her eyes betraying both nervousness and a hint of excitement.
Once the vows were exchanged, the Septon declared them husband and wife. Aemond barely nodded in response, his gaze flickering towards his new bride for a brief moment.
As the ceremony concluded and they were officially pronounced man and wife, Aemond's expression remained stoic, his eye betraying little of his emotions. Fiyona, on the other hand, maintained a slight smile, her eyes filled with a mixture of relief and trepidation at what lay ahead.
The guests applauded lightly, and the Septon gestured for them to kiss as a sign of their union. Aemond hesitated for a moment, his eye flicking towards Fiyona's plump lips.
The Prince's eye lingered on her lips for a moment, a flicker of something unrecognizable crossing his gaze. With a subtle sigh, he leaned in and gave her a perfunctory peck on the lips, his face maintaining its stone-like expression.
The brief contact sent a shiver down Fiyona's spine, the kiss colder and less passionate than she had expected. As he pulled back, she offered a small smile, trying to mask her disappointment at his aloof demeanor.
As they broke away from the kiss, Aemond's eye quickly averted from her, his expression neutral once more. Meanwhile, Fiyona's smile wavered at his detached response, disappointment etching its way into her features.
The guests began to disperse, congratulating the newlyweds with well-intentioned words, though the groom's lack of enthusiasm was evident in his curt responses. Fiyona, meanwhile, put on a brave face, engaging with the well-wishers with a practiced smile.
The reception followed, with the guests mingling and feasting on the food provided. Aemond sat at the head of the table, nursing a cup of wine, his eye flickering across the room, bored and seemingly uninterested in the festivities.
Meanwhile, Fiyona found herself drawn into conversation with various well-wishers, her smile remaining fixed on her face in spite of the disappointment she felt at her new husband's indifference. Despite her attempts at making conversation, Aemond provided few words, his responses monosyllabic and noncommittal.
As the night wore on, and the reception began to wind down, tradition demanded that the newlyweds share a dance. Fiyona, knowing that they had to maintain appearances, summoned her courage and stepped towards Aemond, offering him a hand.
Aemond looked up from his wine cup, a flicker of annoyance in his eye at the interruption. Nevertheless, he set down his drink and rose, taking her hand begrudgingly.
The one-eyed Prince led her into the makeshift dance-floor, a subtle grimace on his face as they began to move in time with the slow, melodic music. His hand on her waist was light, almost as if he was reluctant to touch her at all.
Fiyona, determined to make the best of the situation, smiled up at him, her movements graceful and flowing. Though Aemond's expression remained stoic, he couldn't help but notice the way her dress accentuated her figure, the fabric flowing with each step.
While they continued to dance, Aemond's eye kept drifting towards the curve of her hips, the way her body moved against his. He tried to ignore the effect she was having on him, maintaining his aloof demeanor on the outside.
Fiyona, on the other hand, could sense the flicker of something in his gaze, but assumed it was mere curiosity rather than genuine interest. She kept her bright smile firmly in place, her body moving in time with his.
