Yn woke up the next night, realizing she had been asleep for almost 24 hours. She rubbed her eyes and looked around. She was still in the same room, but the interior had slightly changed, giving it a calmer and more peaceful atmosphere.
Jungkook was sitting at the study table, working on his laptop. Sensing that Yn was awake, he quickly walked over and sat beside her, helping her sit up. Yn was taken aback by his behavior but didn’t refuse his help, feeling too weak to resist.
Without saying a word to Jungkook, Yn headed toward the bathroom. However, Jungkook broke the silence. "Love, do you need my help? Are you alright?" he asked. Yn was shocked by his behavior, why was he acting so kind? She shook her head slightly, indicating no, and continued towards the bathroom, feeling lethargic, so she decided to take a shower.
While showering, memories of Jungkook's vulnerability earlier came flooding back, how she had slept in his arms after their emotional exchange. It gave her a brief sense of comfort, but she brushed the feeling aside. Unbeknownst to her, she had been asleep for an entire day; she still thought everything had happened just that evening.
As she washed, she noticed some marks on her body but didn’t dwell on them, knowing they were from Jungkook.
After her shower, she returned to the bed and sat quietly. Jungkook approached her again. "Are you hungry?" he asked. Although she was hungry, she denied it, saying no.
Yn was confused by his behavior. Why was he acting so kind? Had he realized his mistakes after what had happened earlier? Was he truly trying to change? She thought that if he was, she might be willing to forgive him and give him a chance.
Suddenly, her stomach growled, and Jungkook chuckled. "See, you're hungry and you're lying," he said, and without warning, he scooped her up in his arms and carried her to the dining room. He sat down in a chair and placed her on his lap. Yn couldn’t refuse, knowing full well the consequences of disobeying him. So, she sat quietly, not saying a word.
Jungkook fed her, and she obediently ate, remembering how he had once locked her in the warehouse when she refused. Afterward, he gently wiped her lips with a towel and moved her to the chair next to him.
When he finished his meal, he suggested she go back to sleep. But Yn wasn’t feeling tired at all. Still, she knew she had to obey him, so she returned to her room as he asked and lay down, staring at the ceiling. She couldn’t stop wondering why Jungkook had suddenly changed so drastically.
Why was he so kind after so many days of cruelty? It’s not that she didn’t appreciate it, but something didn’t feel right. Was he planning something more sinister?
As she lay there, deep in thought, Jungkook entered with a few pills in hand. "Yn, take these. Your body is weak from not eating and overthinking. You need to stay healthy," he said. She hesitated, not wanting to take them, but Jungkook managed to convince her, and she reluctantly swallowed the pills.
Yn woke up to the soft rustling of the curtains. The morning sunlight filtered gently through the windows, casting a warm glow over the room. She blinked, slowly adjusting to the brightness, and noticed the difference immediately, the atmosphere felt lighter, more peaceful. She glanced to her side and saw Jungkook sitting at the edge of the bed, watching her with a soft smile. There was no trace of the coldness or control she had grown used to over the past few days.
"Good morning, love," he said in a gentle voice, brushing a stray strand of hair from her face. The gesture was so tender that Yn couldn’t help but feel a twinge of surprise.
She sat up slowly, her body still weak from the days of tension and torment. Jungkook placed a hand on her back, helping her up with a care she hadn’t felt in what seemed like forever. "How are you feeling today?" he asked, his eyes searching hers, filled with concern.
"I’m… I’m okay," Yn replied, her voice barely above a whisper. She was still wary, unsure of the sudden change in him.
Jungkook didn’t push her, though. Instead, he smiled softly and stood up. "I made breakfast for you," he said, his tone sweet, almost playful. "Pancakes, just the way you like them."
Yn’s heart fluttered at his words. She remembered the early days of their relationship when he used to make her breakfast every morning, just to see her smile. Could it be that he was trying to go back to that?
He left the room briefly and returned with a tray, placing it carefully on her lap. The smell of freshly made pancakes filled the room, and for the first time in days, Yn felt a sense of normalcy. Jungkook sat beside her again, watching her with a look that was no longer possessive, but warm and full of affection.
"You know, I missed this," he said softly, his hand gently resting on hers. "I missed us."
Yn paused, the fork in her hand halfway to her mouth. She looked at him, seeing the sincerity in his eyes. For a moment, she felt the walls around her heart begin to crumble, just a little.
"I’ve been thinking a lot, Yn," he continued, his voice barely above a whisper. "I’ve made mistakes… terrible ones. I don’t know if I can ever make it right, but I want to try. I want us to be happy again. I don’t want to hurt you anymore."
Yn didn’t know how to respond. The words she had longed to hear were now being said, but after everything, she wasn’t sure if she could trust them. Still, there was something different in him today. His gestures, his tone, it all felt real.
After she finished eating, Jungkook took the tray away, but not before pressing a soft kiss to her forehead. It was a sweet, innocent gesture, and Yn found herself leaning into it without thinking. He noticed, smiling warmly as he pulled away.
Later that afternoon, they sat together in the living room. Jungkook had insisted on keeping her close, but not in the controlling way she had come to fear. He held her hand gently, his thumb tracing small circles on her skin. Every once in a while, he would glance over at her, offering her small, reassuring smiles.
"Do you remember the first time we went to the beach together?" he asked out of the blue, his voice soft and nostalgic. "You had that white dress, and we spent hours just walking along the shore… I couldn’t take my eyes off you."
Yn nodded, her mind going back to that memory. It had been one of the happiest days of her life, back when things were simple and full of love.
"I want to take you there again," Jungkook said, squeezing her hand lightly. "Just the two of us, like before."
Yn looked at him, seeing the genuine hope in his eyes. There was no hidden agenda this time, no trace of the cold, possessive man he had been in recent days. This was the Jungkook she remembered, the one she had fallen in love with.
"Why are you doing this?" she asked, her voice quiet but steady. "Why are you being… different?"
Jungkook sighed, running a hand through his hair before turning to face her fully. "Because I’m tired, Yn. I’m tired of hurting you, tired of being someone I’m not. I love you, and I don’t want to lose you. I want to be the man you deserve… if you’ll give me the chance."
Yn felt her heart soften at his words, though the scars of the past were still fresh. But for the first time in a long while, she saw the possibility of healing.
Without thinking, she rested her head on his shoulder. It wasn’t an act of surrender, but a small step toward trust, toward forgiveness. Jungkook wrapped his arm around her, pulling her close, his lips brushing the top of her head in a tender kiss.
"Thank you," he whispered, his voice barely audible. "I promise I’ll make it right."
Yn didn’t say anything, but in that quiet moment, wrapped in his warmth, she allowed herself to hope that maybe, just maybe, things could get better.
