Eliora just rested her headon the table as she waited for Xildan. Seconds turned minutes as she waited, she could feel her eyelids get heavy as she slowly fell into slumber.
She turned her head multiple times shifted her chair closer to the table making her more comfortable as she started dozing off.
She found herself walking in a dark blank space in her dream a glimpse of a white light visible at the end. She slowly made her way towards it. As soon as she stepped in the light the surroundings quickly changed.
It looked like she had been taken to the past, it looked like she was back in Nigeria but in a different timeline. She looked down at herself and she was wearing a brown tattered dress 'weird' As she began walking towards the village she could hear the rushed footsteps of people coming towards her.
The first thing that came to her mind was to hide, she quickly hid behind a huge basket by the side of a hut as some sort of soldiers ran past possibly looking for someone.
'What was that about' she thought to herself as she slipped behind the hut and carefully walked away. She couldn't pinpoint what exactly was going on. After while of helplessly walking around she spotted a group of people gathering around a girl who was speaking infront of a shed which was impressively hidden by the tall trees around. She quickly followed them and blended into the crowd as she heard the girls voice.
"We can escape this if we work together, we are tired of being slaves...we won't be taken back there" the female voice spoke her voice authoritative and stern. As the crowd yelled in support. Her voice sounded vaguely familiar.
'Slaves, what's going on' she thought to herself. She looked around the people and her eyes widened in realization they all looked liked her, not facially but their skin colour were alike. Some even darker than others.
Eliora wanted to get a closer look at the person speaking but the heads of the people infront of her made it difficult for her to see what was going on. She decided to push her way through the crowd and it was surprisingly easy to pass through them almost like they made way for her as she passed through.
She finally reached the center of the circle where the owner of the voice stood. She looked up and her jaw dropped. It was her the person speaking was an exact replica of her. She moved closer to the girl or should i say herself but the girl seemed to be ignoring her.
She snapped her fingers multiple times trying to get her attention but it didn't work "Hey why are you..." Eliora said as she tried to grab her but her hand went right through her. Her eyes widened in shock as she looked at her hands they looked normal and she could touch herself so what was going on.
Eliora hesitated for a while before reaching out again to touch the girl but her hands still went through. She moved around the crowd waving at them, making funny faces, screaming and even trying to hit them but it was pointless no one could see her or even hear her
'Am i dead, All i wanted to take a nap what is happening' she wondered her mind twisted in confusion.
"But Eva" someone from the crowd finally said clearly speaking to Eliora's new found lookalike or even herself "We still don't know how you helped us escape their captivity the first time" the person continued and others in the crowd nodded also wondering the same thing.
Eliora turned to the so called 'Eva' before she spoke "I'm not as supposed to say this...but i had inside help...one of the generals...offered me help" Eva said
"Are you sure we can trust him"
"What if he's leading us into a trap"
"Yeah
"It could be another one of their tricks"
"We can't trust the people who we are running from"
"Who is this general"The people in the crowd yelled their questions some agreeing with others not giving Eva a proper chance to speak.
"He did help us escape correct...and this shed was given to us by him...so yes i believe we can trust him...if it was a trap they would have come for us a long time ago" Eva responded her voice not shaken, her confidence stilled visible clear not one to be intimidated."I guess she's right"
"I'm still not convinced"
"That is true"
"So what's our next step"Eva pondered on the last question for a while before speaking "For now...we just need to keep a low profile...gathering for food should be limited to only at night...in order to avoid the soldiers seeing us...for now let's just go in the shed"
The people obeyed and carefully made their way into the shed "we are so lucky to have you dear" an old woman spoke as she took Eva's hand as Eliora just stood and watched "I'm not giving up on us that easily...i will fight to the end" Eva said as she smiled at the old woman who now went into the shed.
Eva took a deep breath and looked around the surroundings before she finally went in the shed locking the doors behind her. 'Well i might as well walk through doors since i'm now a ghost" Eliora said as she closed her eyes gracefully moving through the locked wooden doors.
The dimly lit shed, larger than she expected, the people clustered in groups sitting on the floor as the chatted she looked around looking for Eva before spotting her handing fruits to a group of children at the far end of the shed.
"thank you Eva" the children said in unison as they took their fruits and ran over to their parents. Eva stepped forward now directly staring at Eliora. She get goosebumps as Eva stared directly at her, her gaze unwavering almost like she could somehow sense her presence.
Their staring contest was interrupted by the sound of horse galloping and the sounds if soldiers shouting and the banging on the sides of the shed violently.
"They are here"
"GET THEM OUT"
"BURN THIS PLACE TO THE GROUND" one of the mrn yelled from the outside as the people inside clustered around themselves in fear.Less than a few minutes after the command was made smoke could be seen creeping in into the shed blurring their vision
"Mummy what's happening"
"Are they gonna burn us alive"
"Eva what do we do"
As if on command Eva turned directly to my direction."You have to wake up" Eva said and Eliora just looked at her in confusion
"Wake UP!!" She screamed.Eliora's head flew uo from the table her eyes fluttered open as she gasped for air she looked around and she was back in the cafeteria, she placed her hand on her chest trying to calm her racing heart.
"Five minutes twenty three seconds" she blinked a couple times slowly adjusting to the light as she looked at Xildan sitting right in front of her 'felt longer than that...did he really just time me while i was asleep' she grumbled inwardly still a little shaken by the somewhat realistic dream she just had.
"You alright...you look a little shaken" he asked his voice laced with a hint of concern "Yh I'm fine...just had a bad dream i guess" he nodded as his eyes roamed around her face searching for anymore signs of discomfort.
"My apologies for keeping you waiting" she looked at him in shock 'my apologies really...what happened to a simple sorry' she thought resisting the urge to roll her eyes "it's fine"
"Let's get going then" he said getting up from his chair buttoning his blazer and walking up to her as he held out his hand for her to take it. She took his hand as he helped her get up as she grabbed her bag.
They made their way out of the cafeteria and make towards the elevator. She turned her head to the side and spotted Vanessa in a distant watching, her hands folded on her chest as she stared daggers at her.
Xildan getting pulled her away from Vanessa gaze and into the elevator as they headed to the ground floor. Her mind still occupied by the event of her dream, she remembered every single detail perfectly almost like she was really there, she could hear their cries and even smell the smoke and it just sent shivers down her spine.
'My grandmother always said that when you remember everything tgat happens in a dream then it's more than a dream it's either a vision...or a revelation' she thought to herself as the elevator moved down.
