Chapter 4: Bound by Desire
She doesn't know it yet, but Aurelia is already mine. Every breath she takes, every step she tries to make away from me-it's all futile.
She was born to be mine, shaped by the universe for my hands alone.
I've never been this consumed by anyone, never felt this kind of possessiveness crawling under my skin.
I knew obsession. I'd tasted it before, but this? This was something else.
Aurelia wasn't just an infatuation; she was a necessity. My necessity.
I stood by the large window of my penthouse, looking down at the city beneath me.
It all felt so small compared to the storm raging inside me. Aurelia was downstairs in the room I'd given her, probably still trying to come to terms with the reality of our situation.
It was amusing, watching her fight, knowing she'd lose. But the thought of her surrender wasn't about winning a game-it was about claiming what was already mine. Completely.
It wasn't about crushing her spirit. No, I wanted that fire she had. I needed it to burn, just for me.
I could hear her soft footsteps approaching even before she entered the room.
My senses were attuned to her, like a predator who could sense his prey before it even made a sound.
She hesitated at the doorway, and I turned slowly, catching the nervous flicker in her eyes.
"You don't need to be afraid of me, Aurelia," I said softly, taking a step toward her. "I'm not going to hurt you."
She looked up at me, biting her lip, her eyes wary. "You say that, but everything you've done makes me feel like I'm trapped."
I closed the distance between us, but I didn't touch her. Not yet. "You're not trapped," I murmured. "You're safe. There's a difference."
She scoffed, folding her arms protectively over her chest. "Safe? This feels nothing like safety."
Her defiance was still there, a flicker of resistance that hadn't died out yet. But I wasn't here to crush it.
I wanted her to understand that what I felt for her wasn't cruelty-it was possession born from something deeper.
"I won't ever let anything happen to you," I said, my voice firm. "Do you understand that? The world outside might be cruel, but I'll protect you from it."
She gave a bitter laugh, her eyes narrowing as she looked up at me. "You can't protect me from yourself."
My jaw tightened. She didn't get it yet. She didn't understand the lengths I would go to for her.
I reached out, gently taking her by the chin and tilting her face up so that she couldn't look away from me. "I'm not your enemy, Aurelia."
"Then what are you?" she whispered, her voice shaking slightly. "Because right now, all I see is someone who's taking away my freedom."
