The days had been a confusing blur of Darius’s unwavering presence, a force so strong it seemed to seep into my very skin. He was more than just a looming figure; he was inescapable, an anchor in this strange world. And even if I wouldn’t dare admit it, there was a part of me that had grown to crave his attention.

Tonight, as the fire cast shadows across the room, he held me close, his fingers tracing idle patterns on my arm. I could feel his eyes on me, watching intently, as if he could see right into my thoughts, stripping me bare.

“Aurelia,” he murmured, his voice low and possessive, “you’re the only thing I think about. Do you realize that?”

My heart pounded at his words. The way he looked at me, like he was memorizing every detail of my face, made it impossible to look away.

“Why?” I managed, my voice barely above a whisper.

A shadow of a smile crossed his face. “Because, little one, I’ve claimed you, and I don’t intend to let you go.”

There was an intensity in his gaze that sent a thrill through me, a mix of fear and something else I couldn’t quite name. I didn’t want to feel it, yet I did. Being the focus of his obsession was a heavy, heady thing, and even though I tried to resist, some part of me didn’t want to pull away.

Slowly, he brushed a strand of hair from my face, his touch lingering as his thumb traced along my jaw. “You don’t have to understand it, Aurelia. All you need to know is that you’re mine.”

The possessiveness in his words made my cheeks flush, but I couldn’t deny the way my heart reacted. I wanted his approval, craved it in a way that both terrified and thrilled me.

“I…” I hesitated, my voice faltering. “I don’t know what to feel, Darius.”

His eyes softened for a brief moment, a flicker of something almost tender crossing his face. “You don’t have to know. Just stay here, by my side. I’ll take care of the rest.”
