Sameer stepped out of his car, parked discreetly on a narrow side street in South Mumbai, his heartbeat steady but fast. This was it. He had been investigating quietly for weeks, piecing together fragments of information that led him here, to a man named Rajiv Patel—one of the few people who could know the truth about the match-fixing allegations against Rohit. Sameer had chosen the meeting spot carefully: a small, private club frequented by people like Rajiv, who liked to keep their dealings quiet and away from prying eyes.

Sameer wasn't sure how the meeting would go. Rajiv wasn't the type to be easily intimidated, nor was he the kind of man to give up secrets freely. But Sameer had a plan—a plan he hoped would push Rajiv into a corner. He had carefully prepared a folder with financial records, transfers linked to shell companies, and, more importantly, leads connecting Rajiv to the larger syndicate that was orchestrating the scandal. It wasn't a complete case yet, but it was enough to shake Rajiv.

Walking up the steps of the club, Sameer couldn't help but feel the weight of the moment. He had been hired by Rohit to dig up the truth, but now the stakes felt higher. Rohit's career, his future, and possibly his freedom depended on this investigation. If Sameer failed today, everything they'd worked for could collapse.

He approached the receptionist, offering a quick smile and giving Rajiv Patel's name. The woman behind the desk didn't even glance up before pointing toward a private room in the back, clearly used to the kind of discretion that kept a place like this running smoothly. Sameer made his way down a dim hallway and stopped in front of a thick wooden door. Taking a deep breath, he knocked once and then opened it.

Inside, Rajiv was already seated, a glass of scotch in hand, his eyes dark and calculating as they flicked up to meet Sameer's. Rajiv Patel wasn't what you'd call an intimidating man at first glance. He was of average height, a bit stocky, his hair thinning slightly. But his eyes were sharp, always watching, always calculating. Sameer knew he was dealing with someone dangerous, even if Rajiv didn't have the physical appearance of a villain.

"Sameer Verma," Rajiv said smoothly, raising his glass slightly in greeting. "I've heard a lot about you. The private investigator who likes to meddle in things he doesn't understand."

Sameer didn't rise to the bait. Instead, he stepped into the room, closing the door behind him, and took the seat opposite Rajiv. He placed the folder of documents on the table between them, his movements calm and deliberate.

"I could say the same about you, Rajiv," Sameer replied, his voice steady. "You seem to have your fingers in a lot of pies. But the one we're here to talk about is match-fixing. More specifically, the case involving Rohit Sharma."

Rajiv's smile widened slightly, but it didn't reach his eyes. "Ah, Rohit Sharma. The star cricketer accused of bringing shame to the game. Tragic, really. But I'm afraid you're wasting your time, Sameer. Whatever you think you know, you don't."

Sameer leaned forward, keeping his gaze locked on Rajiv. "I know more than you think. You've been moving money around, Rajiv—funds that are connected to betting syndicates. And some of those funds were used to bribe officials who are now pointing fingers at Rohit. We both know he's innocent."
